Bit confused about this problem. I sell all of my items via Buy it now. If the quantity of the listing goes to zero, eBay is closing the listing. Once the item ends, I cannot find it anywhere in Manage active listings............but if I try to re-list the item through I get a warning message at the top of the
Sorry if this is hard to follow, but feel free to ask any questions about what I am experiencing. Thanks!!

Not sure if this is what your issue is, or not.
I use the "out of stock" (OOS) option in "site preferences".
It keeps my listing live when my stock gets to zero.
The listing is not searchable by potential buyers until I add more stock to the listing.
The listing renews each month even with "0" available. If I want to end a listing with "0" available (OOS) I have to manually end it.
One thing to be noted. OOS is an all or nothing. If activated, it applies to all "fixed price" GTC listings. Even if you only ever had one of the item, never will have another, when it sells, it still stays live/active/renews monthly.

This is correct. You cannot relist or add to stock when an item is sold out. You will need to create a new listing. However, this is not the case if an order is subsequently cancelled, thus allowing to relist or you have enabled the “Use the out-of-stock-option” for your site.

If you don't have the out of stock option enabled a listing with 0 items should show in your all orders section.
If that's the case though you shouldn't see a notice about a duplicate listing.
If you have the out of stock enabled, the listing should show to you in sellers hub under active listings. To add stock you would just revise the listing.
Not sure if that helps your particular problem.

You can relist an item or use sell similar once the listing is sold out.
