Getting emails telling me something I bought is recalled, but lacking the item's identity

I have gotten a couple of emails telling me an item I bought poses a danger and is being recalled, but then it says "Item details: " and has no further information. I am not sure what item it is and wonder if that could be figured out?

@jamesm5722

Where are they being sent from?

It is possible they are scam e-mails.  I know I have never heard of such a thing from eBay before, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I have been getting several lately requesting a payment from PayPal, but PayPal has no record of a request. Not that I haven't had false requests on PayPal before in the past.

This smells like a scam.  And you probably shouldn't click any links in it.

@jamesm5722

I assume it's another ID you use for selling as I don't see any listings on this ID.

If you've received "emails," are they coming through as questions from a listing? If so, the messages should be in your ebay messages and usually show the item they are questioning.

Is that how you're getting the questions?

HI Alberta, I am sorry for the late reply. This week was nuts, and I never got to check my email or this thread until now. Thank you for the reply.

I was not selling, I was buying, and the message is in my messages folder, though I saw it when it popped up in my email. Here is the message, I assume this is an ebay bug failing to embed the product which triggered the message:

Thank you Gator. It is coming from ebay.com and is in my messages folder as well, so it is a legit message. I suspect ebay has a bug in an automated process where something I bought triggered the message, but it failed to embed the product or auction responsible in the message.

I received a similar message today and it did come from eBay Messages. The one I received did mention the product in question which was a can of aerosol spray paint which supposedly has improper warning labels.

The imbedded link prompted my email system to pop up a warning due to the address in the link not matching the sender's (eBay) address.

I got this message today too only it was in regards to a Keyboard Power Supply Charger. However I never ordered that item. Is this a bug or a hacking??
