This is the second time this has happened within this past month: I do a Make Offer after first confirming my payment info in that popup window that appears, so that payment will happen automatically if my offer is accepted. But when it IS accepted (in both cases) I received this message from the seller:
'Hi itsjustasprain,
Thanks for your business! I am ready to ship the following item: [LISTING TITLE AND PRICE SHOWN HERE]
Unfortunately, I can't ship the above until I've received a payment. Can you please let me know when I can expect a payment?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks!'
This identical message has come from two different sellers so far. Of course when I checked the payment HAD gone through as expected and the sellers did ship as expected.
Why are these dunning messages being sent out anyway? I mean there is literally nothing more I can do in response to the message because I already submitted my payment info. So far no seller has balked at shipping right away but I would think they would notice the message being sent to me from their account - right?

Hi @itsjustasprain . I see you never got a reply on this last November. Maybe it's old news to you, but I wanted to give you a heads up there's a current discussion happening and eBay was tagged in. Hopefully we'll get an answer about this odd message.

Thanks! I dont know why its getting talked about in the Selling group and not the Buying group (or here) but at least someone from Ebay answered over there. From what it says at the top of this group I assumed that we were supposed to be reporting technical issues here. But aside from the sticky post at the top of each page I see no Ebay reply on Page 1 and only one reply each on the following pages. 😒

When you post here you're not technically reporting the issue to eBay. It's more like you're reporting to other sellers and buyers. The title of the forum is misleading. To file a formal report you'd have to contact CS.
Every now and then an eBay rep will pop in on a thread here without being tagged, but it's usually on app issues. 🤷
As for why this topic is being discussed on the Selling board: because a new poster started a buying / payments topic on the selling board. They probably did not realize there is a separate board for buying topics, and another for payment topics.
