Can anyone tell me why I sometimes get a "bad request" message when trying to reply to an eBay message?
I had this happen on the weekend with my work computer and assumed my work put up some kind of block, but when I rewrote the message (and shortened it a lot, frustration over spending time doing something and losing the content), it went through.
Tonight I had it happen again, and no matter how I tried to reply, I kept getting "bad request". I rewrote this message as well, then it went through.
In the past, eBay would intercept anything that they think violates policy (key words being used that indicate a breach of policy), and let you know this is why it wasn't being sent. There was nothing in my messages that would violate policy. The first was explaining the shipping from Canada (he wanted details), and the second was telling a customer that we get lots of a particular token coming through our shop because of where in Ontario I live. Nothing nefarious.

Are you using a bookmark or typing ebay.com into your browser?
Try another browser to rule out a browser hijack issue.
If you are able to go to ebay.com using a different browser, scan your computer for malware.

Are you able to reach ebay.com if you use a different browser on the same desktop computer?
That may tell you if the problem is related to your original browser or not.
