Auto Pay linked to Best Offers is a terrible idea, and the fact that eBay didn't communicate the change is worse for Buyers and Sellers.
It makes combined shipping more complicated for the seller. If a BUYER wants to buy more than one item of mine, their knowing that combined shipping will be a matter they'll have to bring up with the seller because of the new Auto Pay, they might not bother with buying more from my store. Lost revenue. I recently had to go back-and-forth with a seller on figuring out how to deal with this. They didn't have much experience on issuing refunds, which is fine. We worked it out, but it took time. Some Buyers might not be as patient. And some sellers might not issue refunds on the extra shipping.
This Auto-Pay feature is complicating how Buyers submit an offer. It's a terrible idea. I've been on eBay 17 years, and the previous method of submitting offers worked smoothly: the offer is 1. Rejected; 2. Considered then countered; 3. Accepted, then the Seller and Buyer work out payment and payment scheduling.
Auto-Pay Best Offer submissions also FORCE a buyer to IMMEDIATELY pay for an item, even if a seller doesn't require it. I give my buyers five days to pay. Some sellers give 2-3 days. I've found this PAYMENT WINDOW gives a Buyer less of a sense of urgency, so maybe they'll shop more. Auto-Pay overrides that, so a customer who needs that extra time to pay doesn't have it. Auto-Pay Best Offers are violating are own store payment terms.
We could be losing sales. Losing customers. Ebay is intent on complicating their platform. I don't know why, either. If you and I are losing sales, eBay is losing money.

I have been buying on eBay for years as a buyer this automatic thing is a nightmare I need to be able to choose when and how I pay and I can’t use certain payment options this way it’s horrible why are they doing this?

Agreed ... this is stupid without a turn off option

Ditto, Fck ebay... I won't be making best offers on anything that needs autopay. I already don't sell on ebay anymore since they eliminated paypal for sellers, now they want to force me to set up autopay, at this rate it won't be long before my account is deleted too...

Here is a problem I encountered yesterday with the best offer pop-up on ipad in chrome. It doesn't work! There is no way to proceed and make an offer AND when I tried to use ebay chat to find out why, I found that chat also doesn't work in chrome! Had to use safari on ipad to discover that I HAD to set a default payment method for everything just to submit an offer! Not good. Seller lost a sale there and it is ebay's fault not the sellers.

If you are getting a "Here's what's new" popup with no button or way to proceed:
There should be a button on the bottom of that window that says "got it" that lets you get past that message and actually submit an offer.
If your page is zoomed in too far, you may not see the button, though. Try zooming out to see the entire message with the button at the bottom.
Or, as you discovered, you can try another browser.

Sitting at "still processing" an hour later on an offer the seller accepted. This garbage clown show they rolled out doens't even work right.

Totally agree. Ebay Sellers are going to lose a ton of sales. As a Buyer I want to control check out with message about sales and the such to seller.
Ebay - just a horrible idea. Going to lose a ton of my money.

Yes, I agree I hate this auto-pay, immediate payment Best Offer option too. I love making lots of offers for goods here, but with the new Immediate Pay I will do less offers. Multiple Best Offers from the same seller / combining shipping is another issue. Some sellers will like Best Offer, Auto-Pay, because they get money immediately, but it just discourages buyers, because not everyone can pay immediately. Some of us need a couple days at least to pay for items. Heck, auction winners get up to 4 days to pay. It's a really silly system. I think eBay should require the listing to show "Immediate Pay Required for Best Offer" in the listing where it clearly states this option.

I just had this stupid thing happen to me on a purchase I intended to use paypal pay in 4 for the purchase and because of it the entire amount came out of my account without my knowledge and caused a overdraft fee thru paypal.
STOP THIS IMMEDIATELY.

Then I for will stop using ebay, FORCING things on your buyers is not acceptable, we have no control over how payment is processed by paypal, I can't change funding source if needed, I can't change to buyer credit nor change to pay-in-4. this already caused me a overdraft fee on a transaction.
you're stealing our money for convenience and punishing the masses for the behavior of some.

I have been twenty years in eBay as both seller and buyer. This is really terrible idea. You can't anymore pick different payment source based on purchase, non use the convenient split payment just added in PayPal recently. This forced me to cancel a few bidding and offer immediately. Terrible!

Seller accepted my offer, auto-pay did it's thing, and instead of it using my preferred paypal source (credit card), it paid from MY SELLER PAYOUT bank account. Wonderful. Not.

I just went through this as a buyer and was totally surprised. I'm fortunate enough to have a few bucks in the bank to cover the costs. I wouldn't mind it if there was some form of quid pro quo between the buyer and seller though. For instance, if I have to make an immediate payment, then the seller has to be required to immediately ship the item. And I don't mean the gimmick where the seller provides a tracking number and eBay then changes the status to SHIPPED. I mean that the seller must present the item to the shipping carrier within 1 business day, or the buyer gets $5.00 for each day beyond that. I think that would motivate sellers to not wait 3 or 4 or more days before actually shipping the item. If I pay my money, I want my item. Just my pet peeve how eBay plays with the wording.

As a buyer, I actually did refuse to make offers because of this feature. Now that I know I can actually remove it, I will be in a much happier place when sending offers.

How did you remove it as a buyer?
