Ebay doesn't recognize my address

I've had this for a while, just never thought to ask.

Why does Ebay not recognize my address? I go to order something, and it won't ship to my P.O. Box (acceptable, but weird.)

I live in a rural area, where all mail goes through the post office, not shipped to the actual house.  Yet putting my address in it says "The address doesn't match our postal service records, so it might not ship to you. You can edit it or continue to ship to this address."

Sure I can still use it, but it's just aggravating that Ebay decides my house no longer exists.

Re: Ebay doesn't recognize my address

It may be an individual seller thing, not an eBay thing.

There are some sellers who do not ship to PO boxes.  These are probably people who don't understand what a PO box is and that it's probably a safer delivery address than most of those with streets and numbers on those streets.

No, I'm saying when I put in my street address, Ebay says it doesn't recognize it.

Re: Ebay doesn't recognize my address

Go to USPS and check your address. Could be any number of things, like abbreviations, order it is typed in, zip etc. Ebay would be checking your address against the national USPS data base, not theirs. Could also be, your home address is so new it is not in the USPS national data base, it has happened before.

Still don't understand.  If you are having your purchases shipped to your PO box, why does eBay even need a street address?

Re: Ebay doesn't recognize my address

Ive the same issue. Ive sold on ebay since its inception, and now I cant because they dont recognize my address?? I understand the PO Box given fraud. I do not understand the other given Ive lived here with no problems from UPS, FedEx, Walmart, AND THE POST OFFICE, for 20 years.

Re: Ebay doesn't recognize my address

We've lived here for over 30 years. I used to sell quite often but haven't in several years. Now I want to again but Ebay says my address is invalid. That's funny. When I purchase off Ebay it gets here but I can't sell from here. When I try to "correct" my address I get recommendations for addresses in other states. What good can that possibly do? Why is Ebay being so difficult? I haven't moved. What's the problem?

Re: Ebay doesn't recognize my address

Sorry I have nothing new to add except frustration with ebay.  Buying and selling with same account since 1998.  Pretty much stopped selling for years now but wanted to list an item yesterday.   Same story, no PO Box accepted, physical address not valid, live in rural area with all my mail going to PO.

Ebay CS seemed annoyed by this issue and seemed to really care less that I can no longer sell.   Admitted that others have had this issue and seemed to infer that ebay really doesn't care much about don't anything to rectify it.
