Buyer Changed Address After Paying - This Should Not Be Possible!
-
Please fix the glitch that allows a buyer to change their address after they have paid.
-
Sometimes this might not matter.
However when an item ships to a farther distance and cost 50% more to mail to that address,
than it makes a difference.
-
The seller should not have to take the time to correct this, or eat the extra cost of shipping.
-
Please fix as soon as possible.
Thak you, Amy

Buyers can't change their address after they pay. It's not possible. However, buyers can change their address when they pay. The checkout page will recalculate the shipping to match the new shipping address, unless you have sent an invoice with shipping before that.
Did you print the shipping label before the buyer paid?

It happened!
That is why this is a TECHNICAL ISSUE.
It is a customer from NY, so when I accepted their offer I printed out the Sales Tax Jurisdiction sheet
that I attach to a copy of the packing slip for my records.
I saw that they paid and went to print the label and the address was for Florida - hence the extra postage.
So there is a glitch somewhere that hopefully will get quickly fixed.

Hello Again,
I just reread your message.
I did send an invoice for the extra NY Sales Tax - I charge just the 8% and changed it to the correct percentage.
So for a few cents on the sales tax I am out a few dollars on the shipping.
Well good lesson learned!
I try to keep ahead of everything but this time it did not pay off.
Shame there is no way to stop this from happening?
Thanks for your answer, Amy

Something similar happened to me.
I received a Best Offer on a t-shirt. I looked at the buyer's profile and saw that she was located in the UK. OK. I decided to accept the offer because the shipping to the UK is not going to be cheap.
Buyer paid, and she provided a SHIP TO address in New York. Same last name, so I suspect it was being shipped to her daughter as a Christmas gift. NBD. I've had that item listed for several years.

Before the buyer pays, you will see their primary shipping address, but buyers can always change the shipping address when they checkout, and that can't be prevented. As long as the new address is within the regions you ship to, then you can't stop this, and you shouldn't try to stop it.
You should never print a shipping label before the buyer pays, and you should not send invoices unless the buyer requests combined shipping. There's no need to send an invoice, you should have the shipping and sales tax set up correclty on the listing, becasue you're not supposed to change the fees after the buyer commits to pay - that is not fair to the buyer.
