I have run into this too ever since eBay changed the format of the page. What I do is copy the buyer ID, add a comment and a space, and paste it. Sometimes it takes, most of the time it doesn't. I just repeat the process, and it takes when I retry.

That's my experience. Maybe it will work for you.

I think that "comment" should be comma.
