Advanced Search 'Exclude words' field not working properly.
This advanced search works properly:
lemieux -claude -jocelyn -real -richard -rich -yvon -brendan -jonathan
(all words entered in keyword field).
This advanced search does not work properly (returns 'no exact matches found'):
in keyword search field:
lemieux
in exclude field:
claude jocelyn real richard rich yvon brendan jonathan

It appears that the excluded keyword field on the Advanced Search page only applies a minus sign to the first term, and any terms after that are included rather than excluded.
So a general search of the following begun on a non-Advanced Search page:
one -two -three -four
when run through the Advanced Search page by using the Advanced link from the search results page, and then run using the search button on the Advanced Search page, winds up searching for the following:
one -two three four
In addition to that, currently any search by store name on the Advanced Search page for me turns up no results.

Couple of times I tried using Advanced to exclude ONE term, all I got was listings FOR that word.

Hey @eburtonlab! I will be sure to share this with our Search Team. If they are needing any more examples of this I will be sure to reach back out!

Yes, I agree with your assessment.
I did notice that and should have stated that as well.

How does a software error like this just happen out of the blue ???

I suspect that, in the course of updating or correcting some other problem or error, a new error was introduced into the code and not immediately noticed. Perhaps a certain module was rewritten, and the effect was to change how things worked. The new code may have worked sufficiently to address the initial problem, but at the same time introduced another problem that was unrelated, and thus not noticed at the time.

eBay needs to review their SW FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis). If eBay hires reliability engineers, he or she will know this analysis quite well. This analysis lists all possible SW failure modes and assesses the potential effects of each failure mode on the system. I have 35 years in the reliability engineering discipline.

You can still exclude terms directly from the search bar of any eBay page without using the Advanced Search page by using a minus sign.

Today I searched for "bonsai" "planter" "pot" -upcycled. In the first 10 items I got two items that were related.
The other seven were shoe laces, tie organizer, replacement high heels, insoles, AND chest bag for men's suspenders..... If I continued listing the results further, they get even more bizarre.
Wonder what I am doing wrong; I used the quotes marks because of the ludicrous results I was getting.

If you are using Best Match sort order, try another sort. Best Match provides additional results that are only loosely related to your search terms lately.
Try this as a starting point for your planter search:
If you narrow to a particular category, you can target your results even more finely.
