Account was hacked a long time ago and in the process the Country in my profile was updated to Mainland China. Actual address didn't change and it even kept the US Zip Code but my country of Origina indicates China and I cannot change it. Error message is in the subject.

I remember trying to address (np PUN intended) at the time, and eventually gave up... Really bizarre to me that I literally cannot figure out how to communicate the issue to EBay so that it can be fixed. Been an Ebay customer since 2001 and genuinely find it hard to believe how little support they provide customers over 20 years later.

As you've discovered, you won't be able to change the Country back to U.S. on your own, only eBay can.

Only use the Private DM or PM Messaging - do not post your account info publicly.
Give them your User ID, your real name/address/country, the email attached to your account, and explain the issue in detail.
They usually respond in a day or two.
