Add to cart button not working for over a week.

I posted this over a week ago and nothing is fixed. Our customers can't add items to their cart in a lot of the sub categories in the ebay motors category. We have not had an order with more than one item in over a week and have been contacted numerous times by customers asking how to get combined shipping since they cannot add any items to their cart without a an error message. I know this is affecting my competitors as well since I can't add their items to my cart either. Contacted Ebay three times and they have no updates. Today was ridiculous. Ebay actually contacted me on behalf of a customer who can't add items to their cart. This is hurting our sales and it seems like nobody is even looking into it. This should not be going on for over a week.

We can try to get a blue to look at the situation, but need specific item #'s and a couple of the subcategories, so he can reproduce the problem...........

@autobodytoolmart

Are you sure it's not because of the PO box exclusion?

I show the  message "cannot" be purchased, please check listing.  That is odd because usually what happens is that it is put into the cart but there I get the message there that seller won't ship to PO boxes, do I want to change the delivery address....and they show me the option of the street address....... which I then change and it continues to checkout.

The PO box Exclusion usually shows just above the list of countries......this shows at the end of countries.  May be some difference in motors listing that I'm not aware of........  but if you want to take that off one listing you are having trouble with.......we can test to see if that's the problem.

I don't think that's it. I did have a PO Box as a primary shipping address, but even when I changed to a street address as primary it throws the same error.

Also, it is most of OP's listings and also other sellers in many motors subcategories (when I checked listings on other thread in Selling on this a while back Parts&Acc cat seemed immune)

We have not changed any of our settings and this problem cropped up on 10/11. The last time we had an order with multiple products was on 10/10. When I try to add items on my mobile phone it says unsupported category. On the computer I get a different error. I heard from a customer today who said the problem isn't just with us. It is body items from multiple sellers from Ebay Motors that he is having issues with. He can't buy anything because he wants to use an Ebay offer on multipe items. He wants the discount for all items that he is trying to add to his cart. The buy it now button works fine but the add to cart does not. When I called Ebay on Wed to get an update the rep said it hadn't even been reviewed. I am suprised this is even still an issue over a week later considering Ebay gets paid fees from our sales. Our sales are down now.

I think it is something with the categories. I just tried to move one of my items out of Ebay Motors. I noticed a competitor had a lot of items in other categories besides that. It won't even let me move the product without giving me an error.

It looks like there's a problem with this listing.

  • The category is not valid, select another category.

This is the category I chose - Home & Garden > Household Supplies & Cleaning > Other Home Cleaning Supplies

From what I see from a buyer viewpoint it is a category gremlin. I get either the popup error I posted as a screenshot in your other thread https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Add-to-Cart-not-working-in-Ebay-Motors/m-p/29082822#M1303504 or I get a similarly worded red error in the cart. For you and your competitors (but not all I tried, and could see no reason why some were ok)

I'm surprised that you are surprised. Especially after only a week (try 3 months or a year). That's how things (don't) work around here.

You will sleep better at night once you wrap your mind around the fact that eBay ignores your pleas, considers you to be noise, and only gets around to fixing things when they can be bothered (or if those things really, really hurt the bottom line, get media attention, or legal department says "ruhroh").

@autobodytoolmart

What's the product (title or item #)?  I'm guessing that it may now appear on a Motors Catalog page under the present category and that's the reason they won't let you revise the category.    If it exists also under household supplies, it may be that if you relist it with that category it may work (again, a guess).

Have you posted on Motors board to see how widely this may be happening?  Alot with the same problem would get you more clout.

One of the items is 142782649113.

So far from testing it is affecting the Automotive Tools and Supplies subcategory in the Ebay Motors category.

But UK listings are fine. Everything else in there is giving the same error. I can add items to my cart when the seller is located in the UK.

Add to cart button not working for over a week.

I talked to an Ebay rep today who told me that the Automotive Tools and Supplies subcategory does not support the add to cart feature. She said that someone in Motors told her that it has been this way for a while. That is not true because I have orders from 10/10 where customers were still able to use this function. Also, why is the button there than if the customer can't use it. To click on it and get an error? Makes no sense. It looks like we need to move 6000+ listings out of that category. Does anyone have a easy way to do this where I won't lose the item details? I tried to use the bulk editor and it said that the category I was trying to move items to was unsupported and I had to refill in all the item details.

The information given to me by Ebay today does not make any sense. Can you please review the issue again. The Ebay rep said my ticket was closed because someone from Ebay Motors said that Automotive Tools and Supplies in Ebay motors does not allow you to have the function to add the  items to your cart. She said it was like that for a while. I had no issue until 10-11. When you look at these categories, the customers normally purchase numerous items at a time and use the add to cart function to get the combined shipping rate. Also why have add to cart button if it is not allowed and it   it errors? I feel like my issue is not being understood or I am not explaining it correctly.

When I try and add any of these items below to my cart this is the error that I get - You have one or more items that cannot be purchased through the shopping cart. Check the listings for more details about purchasing these items. The items that I am purchasing are not even my items that I am checking. This is just any item in these sub categories.

eBay Motors>Automotive Tools & Supplies>Air Tools>Other Automotive Air Tools

First five listings checked error adding items to cart.

eBay Motors>Automotive Tools & Supplies>Air Compressors

First five listings checked error adding items to cart

eBay>Auto>Parts and Vehicles>Automotive Tools & Supplies>Automotive Air Tools>Automotive Air Drills

First five listings checked error adding items to cart

eBay Motors>Automotive Tools & Supplies>Auto Paints & Supplies>

First five listings checked error adding items to cart

eBay Motors>Automotive Tools & Supplies>Auto Paints & Supplies>Auto Paint Additives

First five listings checked error adding items to cart

eBay Motors>Automotive Tools & Supplies>Auto Paints & Supplies>Automotive Primers

First five items checked error adding to cart

Bay Motors>Automotive Tools & Supplies>Automotive Care & Detailing>Other Automotive Care Supplies

First five items checked error adding to cart

These are just some examples. I can go through all of the subcategories but I get the same result. This issue is affecting a huge amount of sellers.

Hi @autobodytoolmart, the developers are aware that some motors categories are encountering errors when buyers try to add items to the shopping cart and it is considered a site issue at this point. Sorry for the confusion this has caused!
