Hello,
I'm calling this a technical issue simply because Ebay AI just doesn't work when deliberating on reported items. And the scammers, hackers and fraudsters all know that Ebay AI doesn't work and are benefitting from a system that isn't up to the job.
Case in point and this happens weekly;
1. Item reported (see Ebay advertisement)
2. AI says nothing is wrong and finds in favour of the seller. When clearly seller contact and payment is being directed outside of Ebay. (See item description)
3. And to top it all, Ebay 'hides' or 'actively discourages' contact with human-beings, because if there's an easy, simple and convenient way of contacting anything with DNA, then I haven't found it.
Please see images.
All item reporting via AI is an absolute waste of anybodies time at this moment. And let's face it, if AI worked, then the item would be checked before being uploaded for sale and AI would operate as a preventative measure.
All I want to do is to stop the misery that these people cause.
Merry Christmas!

The listing appears to have been pulled, and the seller is no longer registered, if I am reading the username correctly.
It is possible that the AI is not correctly identifying the issue, but the report may still be getting attention, so I would not give up on reporting items just yet.
In the future, if the "Report item" link seems to be not working, try reporting the seller directly:

Many thanks for the response and tips.
I just find it frustrating to make the effort to report abuse to Ebay, using the official lines, only to find myself being 'contradicted' by AI.
Mind you, I'm genuinely surprised by how many folk seem to fall for these scams and place bids, when it appears so clearly sign-posted as being to good to be true and in violation of Ebay's policy.
In future, I will indeed do both, machine and man, at least until AI catches up and can make the distinction between real and fake advertisements.
In the meantime, I'm sure, there are more important things to be getting worked up about than Ebay's AI teething problems.

I agree. But then again when I report a policy violation, I don't really expect an update from eBay beyond a useless automated form letter response.
As long as the listing is actually dealt with appropriately, I do not care what wording some script puts on a form letter, and I would not necessarily assume that eBay is using the AI for much more than generating the form letter.

Most marketplace sites recognize the fact that buyers or sellers reporting sellers are an inefficient method of policing the site, and are unreliable a significant portion of the time. Minimal effort is made unless there has been a sale to the reporter.
The size of the sites makes automated processes a requirement.
Reality bites it. Sellers do not wish to see a fee increase to resolve such problems.
