2'nd time this week Ebay allowed a sale to HI when FedEx Ground was shipping option

Throughout the years I have received inquiries on shipping cost to HI or AK when Ground was shipping offered. The buyer was not being shown a shipping estimate, because Ground does not serve those States. Woke up to a sale this morning on a $135 item and Ebay gave the guy in HI FREE shipping. I cancelled the sale, but just wondering if there is an issue with my account or if this is sitewide. 2'nd time this week on 2 different items in two different categories.

Not a glitch. It's intentional. This has been noted in several other threads. Not only with FedEx Ground, but others using USPS have noted that the printing label now defaults to Priority Mail no matter what the seller has indicated in the item shipping information or what method the buyer selects. I have seen this myself in my last two sales. Ebay is trying to trick sellers into paying for the most expensive shipping so the seller gets the item faster.

This happened to me yesterday. It isn’t the first time either. So those living on an Island want cheap shipping they know by checking off a service that does not exist it causes an eBay glitch In essence it isn’t eBay it is the buyers causing the problem. In Hi they do this all the time and others advise it they try to get over. I just advised a buyer in HI ‘that he must arrange his own shipping.” I want no part of the eBay glitch caused by a buyer who has options but chooses one that does not exist. You are always allowed to force the issue as a seller. As a seller I will not be bullied by a buyer. The shipping never was free and I just cancel transactions saying “I can not ship to the buyer’s address” I think if I didn’t offer free shipping that is the best solution. If it is an auction I just re-list the item or offer to the next bidder. If it is buy it now I just cancel the sale and let it automatically Re-list. Any sale that becomes a problem for the seller should be cancelled after 23 years here I have learned that the best solution is the one offering me the least amount of stress.
