I'm seeking advice on obtaining Buy API access for a legitimate B2B use case.
What We Built:
A Shopify app that helps merchants fulfill orders by sourcing from eBay. Importantly: every purchase requires MANUAL merchant approval - this is NOT automated arbitrage.
The Problem:
We were denied Buy API access, likely because we were categorized as dropshipping/arbitrage.
Key Differences:
✓ B2B platform (we serve businesses, not consumers)
✓ Manual approval required for each purchase
✓ Verified Shopify merchants only
✓ No bidding automation
✓ No price manipulation
✓ Full compliance and audit trails
Current Scale:
- 100+ orders/month
- Growing 50% monthly
- 2-10 active merchants
Questions:
1. Has anyone successfully obtained Buy API for fulfillment services?
2. Is there a different application process for B2B platforms?
3. Should we partner with an existing eBay partner instead?
4. What metrics does eBay require for reconsidering?
