Help, Please, with Small EAPG Bowl

Hello, everyone.  Back again for your expertise.

I believe I'm correct that this bowl is Higbee New Martinsville Rexford, aka Alpha, Alfa, Boylan, Euclid and Rexford.  It measures about 5" dia. across the top, 3" tall and 2 3/4" dia. across the base.  That's pretty small.

What could be its purpose?  Too big for a berry bowl, not the right shape for a soup or cereal, definitely not a rose bowl.  I don't know.  Does anyone have a book that might ID its purpose?  I've used it for years to hold a full can of cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving.

I also wonder, with all those aka's, is one more commonly used than the others?

Thanks so much.  You folks are great!

This is Early American Pattern Glass. They have a Facebook group with thousands of members, many of whom would be happy to help you.  They have a huge database of files with pictures you can search, as well.

I was thinking chutney or jam so cranberry fits.

Thanks, rubiano, but I don't have a Facebook account.  Too old....

I was able to search some sites online, including this one that has pictures of 48  pieces in this pattern, but no bowl like mine:

Hi, again, poppyswag.  Thank you for that suggestion.

I just mentioned this site to rubiano (above) and don't see my bowl among 48 pieces in this pattern:  http://www.eapgs.org/patterns/

Seems odd they wouldn't have it.

Great pictures!

I'm with poppyswag.  Have several this size and use them as you do.

Maybe it's a master salt (bowl)?

It always helps to name the pattern when you know it. It may will be that this shape was made after the EAPG period. Measurements always help.

Help, Please, with Small EAPG Bowl

Hello, everyone.

My apologies for the delay in getting back to all who have responded.  I appreciate your kind input.  Sometimes, life gets in the way of my eBay endeavors.  ☹️

I have to leave again shortly, but will return tomorrow morning.

I think you may be on to something, rubiano.  The size of my bowl seems appropriate for a Master Salt.  I also (again) checked this site for Salts and, sure enough, Higbee produced one in the Alpha pattern:

http://www.eapgs.org/patterns/full-images.php?idx=438&pat=118

(This shows Photo #48.  Use the back arrow ((<)) at the top of the page to go back to #37, identified as an Open Salt.)

There are no dimensions given; but I believe this is a small Individual Salt, based on how large the pattern is.  So there most likely was a Master Salt produced in this pattern.

My only concern is that my "bowl" has a sawtooth rim, while the pictured one does not.  What do you think?  Would that be a reason to believe my "bowl" is NOT the matching Master Salt?

I have to leave again in a bit, but will return tomorrow morning.  Thank you.

Having looked at all the images it appears that some pieces have the sawtooth and some don't. I guess it all depends on what Higbee felt like doing each day. 😉
