Hi Glassies. I have a couple of questions about a little 4" light blue opalescent Hobnail vinegar cruet. The questions are about the age and why it has a slight fluorescence under UV light.
The bottom has a pontil mark in the center of a swirl, slight roughness. I was surprised to see it show a muddy green color under UV light. Does that indicate iron or manganese in the glass?
Thanks,
Bill

I always thought that when glass glows under a black light, it's got uranium in it. Google it & see. I've got a miniature vase like your item, but don't remember who the maker is, sorry.

Thanks, antiqye1. I'm familiar with the bright uranium green from Depression glass. I thought a little fluorescence might indicate an older glass composition. Bill
