there is no mark on this metal tray

is this a sugar bowl or something else

Found a blue glass table piece with the same finial marked J. Rogers Silver Company if that helps.

Hi - I believe your pattern is George, Duncan & Sons No. 800 - AKA Heavy Fine Cut. Circa 1885. I think it is a finger bowl made into a marmalade or pickle castor.

The silver would could have been done my any number of companies if you can't find any marks. It is also possible that the base an the top are not a matched pair. It's hard to tell in the picture, but the patterns are slightly different. Someone who knows more about metalwork may be able to assist.
