When is your busiest time?

Hello all, I'd like to get some idea of when your busiest time is for buying AND selling. I know a lot of you kinda shut down for the holidays, but some seemed to do well during that time. What's been your experience? Becky

I have almost given up second guessing ebay! Times that I have thought would be slow haven't been, and vice versa. As it is worlwide, there are so many variables. In the UK Novemeber is quite good for buying because of your thanksgiving holiday and you all seem to be off ebay! Summer can be quiet, but then I have also made some of my best sales in July. I don't sell at all in December, but that is so I can concentrate on Christmas etc and have a bit of a break, I sell from the 1st Jan through to the 30th November, occassionaly taking a week off, but that is more to do with family and fairs etc than with ebay. I list on a Saturday as that is convienient for me, but have been known to list on a thursday if ebay are doing a special offer. I list whenever and keep my fingers crossed! I have a crystal ball too - but I think it must be broken! Sara

Its hard to say when my busiest times are. I would say late Sept. Oct. and early November were my best times. The beginning of December was slow, but really picked up for me the week before Christmas. But after Christmas til now has been a dud so far. Last night I finally won some bids and maybe because it closed at midnight here and 3 AM on the East Coast. I list most of the year except when we travel, and most of our trips are short ones. Judy

I had a record day on December 4th! My store reports showed that more people looked on that day than I've ever had. I sold brooches November and December and did pretty well. I didn't list any postcards in December. Becky

I had great success with selling Santa postcards in July, of all times. I reasoned that everyone puts their Christmas cards on eBay around Christmas and there would be less competition during the summer. I began the auction titles with "Xmas in July..." I tend to list all the time... Christmas and vacations included because my eBay money is used to help pay the household bills, just like a "real" job. I often list the day before a vacation and either do a 10 day auction or advise bidders that I will be unavailable for questions from such-to-such dates due to vacation. It's fun to come back from a vacation in time to see auctions end and get checks in the mailbox right away (to help pay for the vacation!) I usually try to get to a local library at least once during a week-long vacation to get Internet access and check on the auctions' progress. My best month for eBay sales is usually November.

Although I've never had the opportunity to list consistently every month, February, March, October and November have been the most successful.

Phew! 74 postcards sold! :) Computer crashed - printer ran out of ink :( Fixed computer hubbie found a shop and got more ink:) emails sent and all packed ready to go :) Excellent start to the year Sara

Sara, This was definitely a busy time for you. I had withdrawal pains the past few days, as we had close to 9 inches of rain in three days and the phone lines were bad so that meant poor access to internet and Ebay. Now there is a lull between the storm. Judy

On the news, I was watching a man shovel snow off his roof in Tahoe. They were expected to get a huge amount again tonight. Diane, are you still getting snow? In my part of Texas, we had a high of about 65 with 89% humidity. It's muggy!! Becky

Becky, Its raining again tonight here in Central California and I have had enough. My step mom lives in Los Angeles and says she has never seen so much rain. But it is suppose to end tomorrow night. I couldn't even list items on eBay with my bad connections until this morning. So far so good tonight so though I would list more. To spur me on my hubby has on Serius Music Satellite (on TV) mostly oldies but goodies. Its after 10 PM and we go to bed late....ah retirement is great. Judy
