I am trying to identify the location of this real photo postcard. It is black and white with number 11 on it and identifies the photo as 300 Years old Street. No name of a town or country. In the right lower hand corner is a shape like a shamrock with the words FOTO ILLA MARCA REGISTRADA. The stamp box has the identification of Gevaert. I have been doing some research. I think the name Gevaert may be for a Belgium photogragher, but I can't decide if Foto Illa would be Italian or Portugese. So I think the street photo is either from Italy or Portugal. But thats a guess. On the internet they list 1920 for the date of the gevaert stamp box. I imagine a view card like this may be hard to sell.

Hi Papel, and welcome to the group.
Just a guess, but I think it might be Italian rather than Portuguese. But you say the caption is in English? That's a bit odd, although I have sometimes seen a foreign card that's captioned in English -- they were intended for use in the English-speaking tourist trade.
Dunno if that helps, but it's the best I got!

Thanks for your in put Diane. Yes, except for the photograhers symbol the only other words are in English. Probably for all the tourists in Italy. Just a simple residential picture.
