I'll tell you my story and if there are any doubts I have all the printscreens to confirm it...
I've been a buyer and seller on ebay for over 5 years... I have a few items for sale on ebay and I haven't sold anything for less than a year...
Last week I sold an item, but since I hadn't updated my bank account in a while... It expired... So far so good.
My problem now is activating my account.
I received a message from ebay with a link to activate my bank account again so that I can receive the money for the items I sold... So far so good...
Now comes the scary part... Initially they said this:
“While we're waiting for the bank, I'll explain how the transaction is confirmed: after the bank verifies your information, it will send push notifications to the bank that you must accept. You will see a push notification that the funds will be debited, but don't worry. Once accepted, the funds will no longer be debited. These are just confirmations for authorization in the banking system. The money will be frozen for 5 seconds, after which you will receive a verification certificate and a full refund on your card. Are you ready to receive and accept the PUSH notification?”
Do you have any idea how much ebay asked me for? 5000€... Yes 5000€...
Can anyone explain to me why ebay is demanding thousands of euros???
I'm from the days when ebay sent/withdrew 0.20cent to confirm the bank account...
Now I need to know if this is a normal ebay procedure... or if I've simply been misled by someone inside ebay....

Not sure if it's normal procedure or not.
Do you have a checking and a savings account?
Can you temporarily move all your money somewhere so it's not accessible?
eBay is telling you that they will not remove the funds from your account... but to be safe, perhaps the answer is to simply empty the account temporarily.
I'm guessing that eBay chose a random number, sort of like sending you a text message requesting that you enter a code.
I could be wrong, admittedly.

Sounds like a big SCAM to me. I would want more verifiable information before I would do it.

I think the message with the link for you to click was a phishing email, meaning it was NOT from eBay, it was from a scammer.
Check the URL address for the link, and post a screenshot of what the URL address actually is, not what it says it is in the email. I doubt that it was an actual eBay address.
It sounds like you were in a chat with eBay about this? How did you find the number or link for the chat?
What is the item number that was sold? I was not able to find a sold listing from you.
FYI, there's a fairly new scam where the potential or pretend buyer sends a message, telling the seller that they need to update their account to receive the payment, with a convenient link to do so. They may make it look like the message is from eBay.

hey,
Yes, it's a scam! I admit I was also a bit stupid because the message came from a person outside ebay...
This scam has nothing to do with anyone who works with ebay, of course.
Please be careful too. Always question whether it makes sense... But these guys almost got me.
This is the massage:

Yes, you were not dealing with anyone from Ebay.
