How can ebay sellers bear ebay for so many years its ridiculous policy towards seller? I recently sold two items, one 1349 dollar and another one 1099 dollar. Both items have been delivered two days ago and both buyers already left me positive feedbacks. Out of nowhere, ebay decides to hold my funds for 21 days. I called their support, they told me it is because they consider these high value items and they have to make sure I have enough funds available if there is a problem with the item. I told the support that 2 weeks ago I sold an item worth almost 3000 dollar but I get immediate access to the fund. And the support said " YOU GOT LUCKY! YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER GOTTEN THE FUND IMMEDIATELY." What a joke! can't imagine ebay is now having this kind of people as their customer support. BTW, I have always had a good record of selling and customer service. I think ebay is legitimizing their theft action with a reason that should vary substantially between sellers. I can imagine if you are a new seller or seller with less feedback or poor customer service, they may hold your fund due to risk management, but it seems to me ebay just uses this "high value item" as an excuse to treat all sellers indifferently and hold your fund for 3 weeks and do whatever they want to do with it. IF YOU ARE A EXPERIENCED SELLER AND HAVE A GOOD RECORD OF SELLING, YOU SHOULD NEVER BE TREATED LIKE THIS. I can imagine those people replying to this post say things like this is their rule, you need to live with that. All I can say is when you are on your knee for so long a time, you forget what it is like to stand. Back to topic. Ebay is using this as an excuse to hold large sum of seller's money. Imagine what they can do with all this money. This is like free cash flow and they don't pay you interest. I hope sellers realize this is a serious violation of our right and should not be tolerated. Ebay has already been charging absurdly high final value fees while at the same time treating seller like dogs. I am just really curious why there is no contender to ebay in this field. If you know a company Alibaba, which is a Chinese company, they have their own second-hand market place just like ebay. However, there is no fee whatsoever when you list and sell on their site and you get immediate access to your funds when the buyer received and inspected the item. No bull**bleep** like ebay. A little bit off topic. My point is, ebay is wielding its power too much and oppressing sellers more and more in recent years. After this transaction is completed, I will be officially off ebay and I do hope there will be some serious contender in this area towards ebay that really know how to treat sellers fairly. And at last, **bleep** YOU EBAY.

The CSR was right; if you had $3k released immediately, that was an error. All transactions over $1k are held.
Yes, it's their rule, but you don't need to live with that; you do have another option, i.e. don't sell the expensive items here. You're not a prisoner.

I doubt you will find any legitimate US sellers changing to a Chinese site.
Your negs must be on another account so we can't see them.

Ebay must be proud to have you as a good puppy. You don't really get the point, do you? Of course US sellers will not change to Chinese site, all I am talking about is the business model. There are successful business models out there that treat sellers well and unlike ebay does not charge sellers extremely high fees while at the same time treat seller terribly.

Then go there and stop bothering us. Like it or not, for most sellers eBay is by far their best option. I have researched many, used a few and I know. EBay has made changes I don't like over the years but they still are heads above their competition for me. However, no one is held hostage and can leave at any time.
