Why would someone buy from me when they could buy from another seller with paypal????????

With managed payments there is no no longer an option to pay using PayPal. So with most sellers waiting till they are forced to go (unless like me they had no idea that eBay could and would make such a strange decision) why would a buyer buy from me when they could go to another seller that accept PayPal? All they have to do is click the next link in their search.... My sales have dropped like a rock unless eBay takes a hand in it.  Mostly promoted items sell. These buyers can come from different websites

They wont let me go back so now I just sit and wait while I watch my business slowly fades away.

Suggestions?

PS It seems Ebay will use paypal if it benefits them. I pay for my labels using paypal but not for long since ebay money no longer flows there.

I called bay and asked after i went looking, (again on the boards) and they posted pics of an auction and it said "Looking for paypal?"  however maybe this is where the confusion lies

"EBay announced today that it will stop working with PayPal as its back-end payments service in 2020 and will start to move a small percentage of its payments volume to a new partner later this year. ... But Adyen will become the primary payments processor for eBay sites across the world"

Now that sound like just the payment processor.. Hopefully that is all

Currently my bigger problem is I can not purchase a label. No money in paypal since they stopped sending it there and no money I can use in payments. I sweep the money daily. So until something happens I wait to ship.

Would you please provide a link to that announcement by Ebay so we can all make sure we are working with the same information.  I tried to locate an announcement today by Ebay but couldn't locate it.  That certainly doesn't mean there wasn't one, it simply means I couldn't locate it.  So if you'd provide a link that would be very helpful.

Ebay actually told us 2 years ago that in 2020 most sellers would be in MP.  And yes MP does not use PP as the money processor.  That however doesn't mean that buyers can pay with PP, it just means that sellers won't have their payments from Ebay sales go to their PP account.

Ebay is under contract with PP to offer PP to buyers and sellers not yet moved into MP through 2023.

My previous post to you [post # 6] told you how to purchase your labels through Ebay and have the money taken from your MP account.  I even provided you with a picture so you could easily locate the option for designating the payment to come from MP.

ALL sellers are no longer given an option.  The choice is if you want to continue to sell on Ebay you must go into MP once Ebay emails you and tells you it is time to register.  If you choose not to register, your selling time on Ebay is limited.  You aren't being picked on.  It is happening to everyone at some point in the next few months.

why not just add paypal as an option and let the buyer decide ? so i sold an item to a buyer that said the part did not fit , so fine although the part number is on the listing, please return the item for a refund and will give you you money back . now with managed payments you can refund the buyer his original payment but not the additional $20 return shipping fee which you could easily do with paypal. Point 2 , an item sold on friday  out for delivery on tuesday no payment from ebay yet , an hour later email arrives from ebay (we sent your payment to your bank account ) checked my account no money; next day money arrives in account welcome to the year 2000 lol horrible payment system

It is an option for buyers.  So they have already done this.  Buyers can still pay with PP if they want to even though the seller is in MP.  Buyers will not see a change other than there are a couple more payment options available to them.

so i sold an item to a buyer that said the part did not fit , so fine although the part number is on the listing, please return the item for a refund and will give you you money back . now with managed payments you can refund the buyer his original payment but not the additional $20 return shipping fee which you could easily do with paypal.

You can have Ebay issue a return shipping label to your buyer.  That is always an option.  And if you create the original shipping label in Ebay, then they know the exact carrier and method of your original shipment so they select the correct info.  Or if you want, you can create your own return label and have it issued to the buyer.  You don't have to give them cash for the return shipping.  You have options.

Point 2 , an item sold on friday  out for delivery on tuesday no payment from ebay yet , an hour later email arrives from ebay (we sent your payment to your bank account ) checked my account no money; next day money arrives in account welcome to the year 2000 lol horrible payment system

Your basing that on your knowledge of how PP works, but PP is a unicorn of sorts.  No other money processor fronts you the money before it is cleared, but they do.  PP has to clear the money too, they just do not make us wait.  And like I say, PP is a unicorn.  All other similar sites to Ebay have their own money processing programs, Etsy, Amazon, Offerup, Mercari, Poshmark, etc., and all of them function similar to MP.

I do however understand.  It is extremely difficult to come from PP to MP.  Such a world of difference.  I too very much like PP and would have been perfectly happy staying there.  But unfortunately that is not an option so if we want to continue to sell on Ebay we need to learn how to adapt to MP.  Fighting it won't help and likely could hurt you.  But learn how to best work with it and then make sure Ebay hears your voice on things we need to have them improve.  What MP is today doesn't have to be what it is by this time next year.  It will likely grow and get more enhancements along the way.

My actual fact is as a BUYER eBay is not letting me pay with PayPal. So, bottom line it means seller just lost $200 today.  I don’t understand why that’s a good business decision. Do you?

I tried to buy something today--and PayPal was NOT  a payment option.   So I didn't buy.

I'm confused why you think PayPal is so great and managed payments are the devil.  PayPal wasn't that great and the fees to use it went way up.  That's why we all switched.

But again, it doesn't matter.   don't sell, let your account die.  It doesn't hurt my feelings or my sales.

PayPal had a service outage for about three hours. There was no "business decision".

Try again and you should see the option to pay using PayPal.
