New and infrequent sellers are subject to holds on the funds you receive up to 30 days to ensure the buyer that the transaction ended positively and no claims were filed. Should you have a claim filed as Not as described or item not received, the funds are there to refund the buyer. Also note that NO returns does not mean no refunds. Ebay offers a money back guarantee for all buyers up to 30 days. The MGB will trump your returns policy every time. I would start accepting returns.
Good luck and congrats on your first sale!

You're a new seller and they can hold the funds for 30 days.

To add to the original poster....how many sales or time does it take to not be considered a new seller to not have funds held?

There's really no number of sales or time to put on that. Just keep selling, give great customer service and ship your items on time and up load tracking. After the intital hold you should be fine.
Be patient.
Good Luck.

eBay used to state funds will be held until you've sold 25 items, made $250 in sales and it's been 90 days since your first sale. There were other reasons they could hold when the new seller hold is up, i.e. item costing over $1,000, new category, high risk item like jewelry or electronics, and basically for any reason they see fit.
