EBAY charges me AFTER the sale? How do I make a profit with that? Please provide examples too.
Thank you.

You've been selling on eBay for years, and your Final Value Fees have always been assessed after the sale. Nothing has changed in that regard. PayPal used to assess the payment processing fee that is now assessed by Managed Payments. On most transactions, the total fees are with pennies of each other.
Maybe you could clarify your concern?

You have 142 feedback as a seller and you just figured that out?!
eBay, too, is in business to make a profit. You need to figure out your costs and either (1) price your items so you can make a reasonable profit; or (2) drop the items that you can't make a profit on.
Here's the Help page where you can look up the percentage final value fee for various categories.

Prior to MP, ebay charged the FVF after the completion of a sale, whether paid or not. If the buyer didn't pay, it was up to the seller to file UID and once closed, the FVF was credited.
With MP, the seller isn't charged until the buyer pays. No if you have NPB, you were never charged, thus there's no loss (except for time).

All for profit selling will require the seller to consider their costs into pricing.
If I go into the forest and chop down some trees to sell for firewood, I have to consider all my costs, not just the cost of the trees, which were free. I had to pay for the chainsaw, the gas to get my quad out to the trees, my time of chopping down the trees, my lunch I brought from home, and the cost of putting the ad in Woodchopper Magazine.
Using eBay to sell your jeans is no different.

Wow! Consider their costs BEFORE pricing/selling something?
What a great idea. I think more sellers should do that. 😉

Why would I want to be charged BEFORE the sale? I mean seriously what is your complaint?

I don't think it'll be an issue. I can't see your 3 pr/jeans listing selling the way it's set up. No worries!

Example.
I buy my item for $3.64
I sell it for $21.99 + $4.01 shipping.
The buyer has shipping to a "no tax" location.
FVF would be as much as $0.25 more if taxed.
I pay an eBay FVF of $3.44
I pay $3.85 to ship the item.
Shipping materials cost me $0.26
$25.00
- 3.64
- 3.44
- 3.85
- 0.26
$13.81 left for me (- about 20% to cover income tax)
--------------------------
Another example
item 2. I pay $0.10
Sell $9.95 (shipping included)
-0.10 cost of item
-1.55 FVF
-3.12 shipping
-0.08 shipping envelope
$5.10 left for me
__________
Item 3
Item costs $8.86
Sells for $114.06 with buyer paid shipping (including tax of $6.46)
-8.86 cost of item
-6.46 sales tax collected/remitted by eBay
-14.61 FVF
-9.36 shipping
-0.15 shipping supplies
$74.62 left for me before taxes
I knew my estimated costs before purchasing/listing, so I knew there was a profit for me when eBay got their fees at the time of the buyer payment.

You can scratch off the cost of lunch. It is not deductible, as you would have eaten lunch anyway had you stayed home😊

I think he's complaining because eBay is taking their cut right away and not a month later, the way they used to do it. Remember how they used to bill you once a month for the previous month's fees? Now they feel the need to grab it right away, so the seller doesn't have the ability to use that money for a month. Just my take on it. And for what it's worth, managed payments is a step back 20 years or so. Ridiculous that I have to wait 5 or 6 days to get paid.

As they have always done. I'm not sure I understand why this is news to you. You've been selling a little bit here and there for years. How could this me new to you? Did you or do you think you should be able to use the site for free?
The fees in MP have NOT increased overall fees. The following numbers represent those that do not have a store and the fee rate for most common categories [not all].
Fees BEFORE going into MP
10.20% FVF + 2.9% PP fees = 13.10% plus 30 cent per transaction fee.
In MP the fees are:
10.20% FVF + 2.35% money processing fee paid to MP = 12.55% plus a 30 cent per transaction fee.
Starting August 2nd, PayPal is raising their fees, so they will be as follows:
10.20 Ebay FVF + 3.49 PP Fee = 13.69% plus .49 cent Per Transaction fee
PP is apparently offering different fees to different sellers, likely depending on size. From what I've seen it is between 2.59% and 3.49%.
