I've been on and off Ebay for the past 15 years and had not sold an item in over a year. I haven't sold much so haven't had any issues until now. I got back into selling on Ebay in Oct 2021. On 11/15/21, I sold an item. I received notifications that the item was sold, payment received and time to ship. I had put 3 handling days on and shipped the item the same day. On 11/25/21, I received an email from Ebay saying funds aren't available in your Ebay acct so they will automatically be deducting $22 from my bank acct which I believe was the amount for shipping. How could I get notification that the funds were received and then Ebay say 10 days later, I owe them money? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nevermind....something went awry. The buyer asked if I could get it there as soon as possible. I went through all the mailing options available. I had it setup for USPS Priority initially but online was showing that for a few extra dollars FedEx could get it there faster so I went with that. As it turned out, I was charged an additional $22 by FedEx. I don't understand how that happened when Ebay was showing $13 for USPS Priority which the buyer had paid and for FedEx was showing $15.

FedEx charges shown on eBay are an estimate.
Lots of "surcharges" may apply to FedEx shipping.

So basically, don't trust Ebay when reviewing for FedEx or UPS. What if I choose FedEx or UPS as my shipping method on an item. Can I trust that the payment that is made to be enough to cover the actual shipment?

It has nothing to do with "trusting" Ebay. Ebay is giving you the information given to them by the carrier. They are creating the information.
As far as the payment from your buyer, that depends on what you set up in the listing for the buyer to pay. Ebay only has them pay what YOU set up.
