This is my first time using eBay.
I purchased an item using my debit card, no PayPal involved. Because I don't have PayPal account, I close both of my accounts last 2 years.
Now I want to cancel the order but I can't open return refund so I asked the seller to cancel the order from their sides. It's all just good until the seller asked for me to give PayPal account that I used to purchased the item. When I don't even have one and I don't even know why is it charged under PayPal. Hence I created a PayPal account today, and I followed the instruction step by step and it lead me to "no transaction on PayPal" and it is because I just created it.
I also got the message from eBay that said if I don't respond to the cancel request by seller before the given date I will still got my refund but I had to wait a week to get it then.
Yes I did give the seller my new PayPal email that I created today. But since I didn't respond to the cancel request do I really have to wait a week to get the refund?
My first time using eBay and I am so confused about how it actually work, any help on what's actually going on here is appreciated.

It sounds like the seller is not in Managed Payments yet and is still getting paid through PayPal.
Did you explain to the seller that you didn't use PayPal? All the seller needs to do is go to his PayPal account, find the transactions and refund it. It will then go to whatever source you used. You creating a PayPal account and trying to get it to work is futile. Follow up with the eBay cancellation request.
