Transaction Report CSV File Unreadable mess.

I became top rated seller june 20th, but all my transactions before july 1 did not show my top rated seller discount for final value fees. After talking to three agents the fourth assured me they were there, all I needed to do was download my transaction reports for that time period.

I download my transaction reports for that time period and can't open the file with any programs that make any sense....

Download an app to read the file and the fist half of the columns all make sense and are fine, but after that it is a mess with the columns having the wrong information in them.

So after a month of talking to reps and getting nowhere, I still cannot confirm if the top rated seller discount was properly applied.

Is there a program out there that can read a csv or excel spreadsheet file correctly?  Why doesn't ebay make it simple and use pdf format?

Thanks

Ahh, let's remember who we're talking about here. I think you might have mistaken eBay for a company that actually does things right.

If you don't want to use a program like excel, csv files are simply comma separated text files, you can open them using a program like notepad which already on your Pc as it is part of windows.

Excel will try to format the information into columns, whereas notepad will simply show the text with commas between the information so things won't be lined up, but they will be there.

Hope this helps.

Likely because there is just too much information / columns in this report.

This can be annoying for some sellers to be sure.  It is best to drop it into a worksheet type program.  I use Excel.  The format it to look the way that works best for you.  When I get in there to work with the report there are a bunch of columns I get rid of because they aren't info I need for my purposes.  That works well for me.

I have excel and it is and has always been a jumbled unusable mess. Over the last year or so, I have tried everything to make it readable and it just isn't. I would also LOVE a solution.

It is likely the manner in which you download the worksheet.  Do you open it as a CSV?  Do you expand the columns so you can read the titles of the columns?  If you do, you are best to do that either after shortening the heading on these reports or doing something else with them as there are plenty of words at the top that would make some columns very big and useless.

You need to customize the report within the excel tools.  It can be a bit of work, but all the info you need is in the report.
