Paypal not working as it used to?

I've been an eBay member and have been using PayPal (to pay for purchases) for something like 20 years, suddenly when I go to purchase an item eBay / PayPal is not working as it used to. Previously when I bought an item and selected PayPal a window would open that logged me into PayPal and let me select from a number of payment options. Now that no longer happens and PayPal automatically deducts the purchase from the checking account that is selected for proceeds of sales to be deposited to and I rarely ever sell anything on eBay anymore. I have a different preferred payment method other than that checking account but how do I get the dialog / window back that allows me to select the PayPal payment method?

Login to PayPal. Select the default payment message you desire. Do this before you try to pay for another Ebay purchase.

Were you selling, you would know that you can no longer have your proceeds sent to PayPal since Ebay manages payments.

The relationship between Ebay and PayPal is now arms length.
