I offered the best offer for an item and the seller accepted that offer. But due to my urgent family issues, I did not log past days into eBay. after some days seller canceled the order for the reason 'buyer has not paid'. Please tell me how this affects my account and can I appeal for it? This is my first unpaid cancellation. Thank you.

You should have contacted the seller and told them to cancel to do your personal issues. Personal issues really don't matter to Ebay. This is business and it was your responsibility to contact the seller and ask them to cancel. Most likely you will receive a strike and a warning. If you neglect to pay a second time, you will be suspended from buying on Ebay for 1 year.
Hope things have gotten better for you and your family.

This has no effect on your account as long as this is your first and only unpaid strike.
There is no appeal for an unpaid strike.
Sellers can block bidders who have 2 or more strikes. They take a year to age off your account.

Appeal for what? Sorry but you took up their time and held up their item. You got one (deserved) strike. It won't hurt you, but just be more mindful that a seller has been set back, not you.
