Payment Pending

So I made an offer on a watch for $5300.00 and the seller accepted the offer so I immediately paid using my PayPal card link to my credit card and now it’s been over 6 days still showing “payment pending”. I called PayPal and my credit card company and they verified that eBay has the payment. So the seller and I have been calling eBay support.  When I call the blame the seller and when he calls the blame me (the buyer). Why is this happening I use the same payment method last night for an item and it cleared right away. I don’t understand why eBay is not taking this seriously when it’s a $5300.00 transaction and the seller and I are getting frustrated with eBay support giving us the run around. Please help

Payment Pending

This will usually happen when a seller is using PayPal as their money processor and on the specific listing you purchased from they made a typo in their PP account name.  If they did that, then PP would apply your payment to whatever account the seller's listing directed them to, but if that isn't a real account, PP will show it as Pending to you because no one has claimed it.

So you need to contact your seller.  Especially if this is a new seller.  They have to check the listing you purchased from, no other listing and look at what they said the account name was VERY VERY carefully as there is likely a typo.

You can cancel the Pending payment and then just reissue it to your seller.  However your seller will need to cancel the original transaction, create a new listing for you to purchase from and then you make the new purchase and payment.  But let them know to be ULTRA careful when entering their account name in the financial section of the listing set up.

Thanks for the great info! So I did contact the seller and advised since this is his first sales transaction to update his “managed payments” section to a bank account, so he did it and verified it by doing the small deposit and then return to verify everything was good. So are you saying it’s a listing error with his PayPal account? I was informed that sellers PayPal and credit card company I always used to pay and they confirm that the payment went through fine and is with eBay now. Both have verified that. So, my question is if on my side everything shows confirmed, then does it go to his PayPal which you think might be incorrect on the listing still?

Well call me confused.  What you told me earlier was that your payment was showing PENDING to this seller.  If it is now saying it has processed or is verified, then the problem has been resolved.

Not all sellers are in MP yet.  Most are, but there is still about 20% of sellers still getting onboarded before year end.  So some sellers could still be using PP as their money processor.  What I described earlier was for a seller that still is using PP as their money processor.

Now if the seller was in MP when you made your purchased, what I said would not apply.  But then there would be a more serious issue as it should have never shown as Pending on your side.  Whether or not the seller was having a registration problem with MP, that would not have affected you in any way.  The payment would have been processed and never shown as pending on your PP account.
