I had a buyer place 2 separate orders this morning totalling $278, then less than an hour later (without contacting me) they open 2 payment disputes for the same orders under the reason "the buyer did not recognize the transaction". I hadn't shipped anything yet, so I chose to accept the dispute and refund the buyer, but now the orders are just lingering there telling me to "ship now".
I get the attached error when I try to cancel the orders and obviously I'm not going to ship them, but if I don't ship it's going to affect my metrics. They're also still showing up as sales, so how does that work?? Does anyone know what am I supposed to do with these orders while the dispute process runs its course?

Since you accepted the dispute and refunded the buyer, all you do now is wait for the systems to catch up and update everything. You don't need to worry about cancelling the transactions. I would suspect you'll see everything straighten out in a couple of days. If not, then you contact eBay.

@popblox First off you did nothing wrong here. You handled everything correctly and I'm glad you hadn't shipped yet when the buyer opened that dispute. Dodged that bullet.
Problem is that everything is automated, so now you have to be very patient and wait this out. Had the buyer attempted to cancel this wouldn't have become the issue it now is. The problem was when the buyer selected a payment dispute. That changes things and elongates the process. You have documentation on everything and it was done through the eBay system so you will be fine. Just expect that you will have to follow up at some point with eBay to get whatever remnants there may be to your selling account, but it can be fixed later on. Best of luck to you....

And don't forget to add the buyer to your 'special' list

@downunder-61 Yes, that's always my first step the instant I see that dispute email!
Thanks @lamber9347 - I always forget that patience is an option 😩, thank you for the reminder! I kept worrying I was going to accidentally ship the orders, so I finally just archived them and that at least keeps them out of sight for now.
