I'm having an ongoing issue where my PayPal Cash Back Mastercard (called PPMC hereon) is not in the list of credit cards when I do a PayPal checkout of my ebay purchases. The PPMC is visible when I purchase from other websites such as newegg.com and bestbuy.com, but not on any ebay.com purchase. If I try to add the card during PP checkout, I get a red error "This card can't be used for your payment or added to your PayPal account. Try a different card.". My PPMC can still be used directly in the ebay checkout process without using PayPal checkout, but that defeats the purpose of using the PPMC in order to maximize cash back rewards.

I've called Paypal and they said there's nothing wrong on their end. I've contacted them more than 4 times and I get the same answer. They also tried transferring me to Synchrony and the few times I didn't get hung up on, they also said there's nothing wrong on their end. Something is wrong on someone's end and I don't know who to contact to resolve the issue.

When checking out on eBay and choosing PayPal, are you sent to your PayPal wallet, and if so are you able to see and choose other payment methods?

If not, deleting your PayPal entry on your eBay Payments page may help.

If you see and can choose other cards in your PayPal wallet but not that specific card, then something else is going on.

Yes, I get sent to my paypal wallet. Its not in the form of a popup, it takes me off of the ebay checkout page. I am on desktop website using a computer (no mobile, no app). Yes I see other payment methods and have been using a different card for now inside the paypal wallet checkout.

I also tried on ebay app on phone, when picking the paypal method, it opened my chrome browser and presented the same paypal wallet layout as on desktop and my PPMC was missing there too.

I deleted my paypal entry in ebay payments, then picked paypal again on paying for a new item today. PPMC was still missing in the list.

Using paypal on any other merchant like newegg and bestbuy will show my PPMC in paypal wallet checkout, even for large amounts of money. But I couldn't purchase a $7 roll of shipping stickers on ebay with my PPMC in paypal wallet checkout, the card wasn't there, and manually adding it in wallet checkout gave the red error as described in the first post.

Is this a credit card or debit card?

If there is a difference in rewards that only occurs if you use PayPal checkout, it suggests this is a PayPal gimmick. PayPal is no longer given favored treatment by Ebay and other PayPal features like 4 payments are also gone.

Ebay has been removing any special treatment for PayPal as it locates them. The divorce is final and you should not count on any PayPal specific features surviving,.

PPMC = PayPal Cash Back Mastercard. It is a credit card.

I still see PayPal "Pay In 4" at the bottom of the paypal wallet checkout.

I also want to add, I notice that "paypal rewards - redeem" is also missing in paypal checkout on ebay as well as something called "pay monthly" below pay in 4. This is what I see when doing a paypal checkout on best buy.

One more comment. The issue SEEMS to have resolved itself? But coincidently, paypal's 2% cash back offer for ebay purchases (separate from paypal cash back mastercard reward program) is no longer showing as an activatable offer on paypal's website. So it's POSSIBLE that this 2% paypal offer was the root of all the issues I was having... Granted, I was triple-dipping on rewards programs (2-3% cash back on credit card itself, plus paypal's 2% offer for using paypal checkout, plus 4.5% on capital one shopping extension).

As soon as the paypal's activatable 2% rewards on ebay purchases was no longer activatable, I was able to use my paypal mastercard again. Maybe a coincidence, maybe not. But since the ebay mastercard is 3.33% back, guess I'm back to using my Ebay MC.

There have been several recent posts by people who complained of being unable to use ppin4 on Ebay. Either they were doing something wrong or there might be multiple versions of software deployed.

There have been several recent posts by people who complained of being unable to use ppin4 on Ebay.

Possibly those users were trying to pay for offers or auctions where the seller required a payment method in advance; in that case only payment options that can have a reversible payment hold placed on them will be available.
