NEW ITEM SPECIFIC RULES

Many of us have hundreds or thousands of coins listed on eBay.  Will we have to have all of our coin listing udated by 20 January 2021?  With this late notice it will be hard every with bulk editing.

NEW ITEM SPECIFIC RULES

Well, late notice is better than the alternative when they were going to ban all coin sales except for the five large multi-millionaire corporate sellers.  I doubt the coin lot sales with dozens or hundreds of coins will fall under the item specific rules.  Coin lots may be banned as "bullion".  I think if you focus on your most expensive coins you will get plenty of them updated on time.  I have been adding the item specifics as I relist coins for months now because ebay prompted me to.

What killed me a few years ago was when U.S. citizens could travel to Cuba yet we couldn't list antique Cuban coins one at a time on ebay.  Sometimes the rules make no sense.  Other sellers were listing coin lots as "exotic Caribbean coins" and would just show enough of the Cuban coins to let the buyers know they were there.  I listed one Cuban 20 cent piece and got two letters from ebay.

If I understand your question, I think the answer is "no".  When I was moved from PP to Managed Payments, I did not have to make any changes to my listings....ebay automatically indicates which other forms of payments are now permitted, and removes the ebay generated "PayPal only" notice.

Is that what you are asking?

Wait, OK, I see you have text in your listings that you accept "PayPal Only". I'm not sure, but I'm thinking yes, you'll want to remove that. I don't know if you will be required to remove it, but leaving it in will only confuse buyers who , say, go to pay with GooglePay on an Android phone.....

Personally, I'd suggest removing it now...why wait. It isn't really doing you any good anyway.

OK, sorry, you are asking something about Item Specifics?  I guess I'm not following....I assumed this had something to do with the change to Managed Payments....

Argg,  same here.  Most of my listings say PayPal only.  If I start mangled payments I will need remove the PayPal only note after ten years.  Admittedly I never planned on signing up.

NEW ITEM SPECIFIC RULES

Until the following policy is changed I don't see a reason to sign up when everyone knows coins can be sold almost everywhere else.

What is the policy?

Sellers enrolled in managed payments are not allowed to list the following items:

  • Adult only items, including movies, video games, and photographs
  • Auction services
  • Bullion
  • Coins & paper money (only Exonumia, and Publications & Supplies are allowed)
  • Gift cards & coupons
  • Lodging, timeshares, vacation packages, and car rentals
  • Memberships for campground and RV parks
  • Motor vehicles
  • Tickets for travel, events, or experiences
  • Wine

@jayjaspersgarage

Coin & Paper Money sellers have received an email that they are now ready to be transitioned into Managed Payments.

That's why there have been so many threads on the topic posted today. Most the threads are on the Payments board.
