My payment for offer got declined

Hi there. I made an offer to buy an item outright that was auctioned. The seller accepted the offer. Before I made the offer, eBay asked me to verify my card which I did and I even received a messaged saying that it was verified. However, once the seller accepted my offer, the payment got declined. I asked my bank what happened and they said that the payment got declined because they "are missing a presentment". I'm not sure what that is but it seems like the auto-payments won't work with the bank. I've bought other stuff before with the same card on eBay and it works fine when I'm buying but not for auto-payments. So I'm not sure what will happen with my offer now. Will there be a way for me to pay for it manually once the payment processing fails? What can I do to fix this issue? Paying for the item is legally binding but I can't pay because eBay is failing to communicate with the bank. Any ideas what I can do to make things right?

There is nothing legally binding.  If you can't pay for it, you cant pay and the offer is then cancelled.   There is no sale until paid for.  You say you made an offer on a item that was auctioned....was it listed with a "buy-it-now" or  "best offer"?   Also, why not ask your bank what the term "missing a presentment" means?

As a buyer have a credit card on file with eBay before making future bids on auctions.

That item may be sitting there waiting for another payment source to be provided to complete the transaction.

If that's the case you may be able to retry with your bank card or provide another form of payment.
