Managed payment question

I just got an email from ebay about "managed payments."  This is all news to me.  I do not want to give them my checking account info.  Can't I continue to receive payments to my Paypal account?

Wouldn't matter if you could.

They could pay cash picking up locally.

You could take the item to them, and have them pay.

All this makes no difference,  as.................   if you have been selected for MP, you will either switch over, or your ability to do new listings, or revise current listings will cease. Your selling days will end.

I was just fine with PP, but not my site, not my decision on how things work. I either comply, or leave.

The types of item I sell are well suited to eBay selling, and I do not wish to try starting from scratch on another site that may also have policies of their own that I may not like.

Only thing different for me with  MP vs eBay/PP is the short wait for funds to process, and hit my checking account. My money often stayed in PP for a while anyway, so not really a factor.

NO. PP will no longer be the funds processor for payments to eBay sellers.

I opened an additional checking account to keep my eBay monies separated from my personal/household monies.

Your checking account info (account#, tracking#, etc.) is printed on every check you hand or send to someone you've never seen before. Yet, you don't want to give that same info to eBay?

Interesting question.  If a buyer can pay cash vis-a-vis local pickup, why not obviate MP in the same fashion?

Or where is the policy that prohibits this?

No. This violates eBay's terms.

Is any of this optional?  Some of the wording in ebay's help pages makes it seem so.  For example: "All sellers must follow the guidelines in our Prohibited and restricted items policy. Managed payments sellers have some additional restrictions on what they can list on eBay."  It sounds like there's two groups of sellers, some who are MP sellers and some who aren't.

Managed payment question

I, too, got that email. We must be in their this week roll out. ebay has had my bank account info for 20 years because that is the account where ebay charges me my monthly fees. So I just now followed their links, put the same account info in that they already have. What did give me the creeps was giving them my SS number. It has been so long ago, I can't remember what info I gave them 20 years ago. But they say I am all signed up.

I did think about setting up a second checking account just for ebay, but was afraid they would want like a screenshot of a check, which I wouldn't have, or some kind of letter from my bank. So I took the easier way out and put in the old account. Always wondered, though, if you could set up PP to be your account where they can dump/collect fees, but guess not. Good luck.

MP currently has some "restricted categories".  Adult , and coins/paper money are 2 of the current categories.

Coins/paper money is about to be opened up as an allowed category in MP. Those selling "primarily" in restricted categories have not been selected to switch over, but that is now changing.

So, yes some sellers in MP, some not, but the eBay plan is for all to at some point be switched over.

Those sellers that have been selected to switch over must do so, or selling will be restricted (new listing/revising), and soon be done.
