I'm not giving ebay my account number, or last 4 of my ssn or any other info. I never gave it to paypal either, but they would mail me a check for my sales. I'll keep doing that and sell on audiogon.com and other sites. Goodbye ebay.

There is no other way other than to give the info that they require for MP which is actually your FULL SSN along with other things.

You are not alone.  I have seen many sellers leave...and I mean L-E-A-V-E.  It used to be that sellers would come here complaining about some new format or another hoop to jump through and threaten to leave only to still be here a year or two later...

...not this time.  This time they REALLY ARE leaving.  I look and yup!  Poof!  They are gone and the vast majority of them that I have monitored have not come back either.

Why would you leave ebay?  By the end of this year everybody will have to enroll in MP so there will be millions of sellers who will have provided ebay with the necessary information. If you leave, your competition gains. Let others leave and you will have less competition.

Although ebay is known for glitches but I have yet to read that someone was scammed because they gave ebay their SS and bank number.

Do you pay utilities online? Then you give them your checking account number. IRS also have your SS number and (if you file taxes electronically, which tens of millions do) also your bank account.

Of course, not my business, but if you make some money, this issue  is the last reason to leave ebay.

It won't matter in 2022 where you sell.  If you receive over $600 from a payment processor you earnings will be reported on a 1099K.

A 1099K can not be prepared without you Social Security Number so be prepared for whoever your money processor is in 2022, they will be requiring you Social Security Number.
