How long are payments supposed to be "processing?"

I sold 4 items on Thursday and the buyers paid promptly. It's now Saturday and eBay says I have no payouts pending and all that money is still "processing." What's the timeframe on this exactly? How many business days? No info is given.

Must be nice to hold on to everyone's money for a few days and collect interest. There's no reason for it to take this long in 2021.

payments don't really process over the weekend.  all i can speak to is my experience after MP for 6-7 months.  stuff that sells on thursday generally moves from processing to complete starting sunday night.  most if not all should move to completed by Monday. that is not a guarantee but is mostly likely.

not sure why they don't process money on weekends but they don't.

welcome to MP

While the payment is processing, there is no money to hold.

It usually takes 2 business days to process, but it depends on the buyers payment source.

Have a great day.

I've been in MP for a year-and-a-half. My buyer's payment becomes my bank deposit in 4 business days. Welcome aboard.

Just stopping by to comment that with managed payments I feel like I have stepped back in time.  With so many instant money processing services that exist now, I am completely baffled as to why it takes so long to process and receive payments from ebay sales, and how ebay thinks this is okay.  Now I just read that they are increasing seller fees on April 1st.  I just sell on ebay once in a while to make some extra money.  The high fees and long wait time to process payments makes it not worth it to me anymore.  I'm sure ebay won't miss me-- but I seriously can't imagine why their payment processing system is so slow, they are such a huge company to be so all over the place and vague with payment processing times; I have read all sorts of different wait times on these message boards-- and ebay said MP was going to be easy and predictable  😕

There is no "switch back".

When eBay shows "awaiting shipping" it is time to ship within your stated handling time.

The "awaiting shipping" is shown when the buyer payment is confirmed. Just a matter of waiting for the payment to process, and payout before it's actually in our hands.

Money was never really our with PP for 180 days even though they "fronted" the payment when it was still processing.

Over 20 months in MP with hundreds of items shipped, and never a buyer payment failing to show up in my checking account.

It's mad cos it was only a couple of month ago I was posting statuses on Facebook telling people they should use ebay instead of Amazon, cos you never really hear bad things about ebay. Singing their praises I was. Then started this new payment overhaul and it's so slow it's just awful now. Just after the pandemic when we've all lost jobs and money, we're selling things to get by and they make this daft move. Couldn't have changed their system at a worse time to be fair. All our money sat there making them interest an here's me, unable to get food in cos theyre kicking back with their feet up, 'processing'.

They have been switching sellers over for almost 3 years now, so it's not something they just decided to do.

They have to get everyone switched before Pay Pal quits processing payments completely.

Have a great day.

PayPal isn’t going to stop processing payments.

I don't think anyone has suggested that they were, least of all @kensgiftshop .  PP can do business anywhere they have an agreement to do so, it just won't be on Ebay for its sellers.

Buyers are still free to use PP if they want to.

They are for Ebay, that's why they are switching to Adyen.

Have a great day.

Its not that long but its long enough to make you either front all the post and packing costs before you get the money or to become a "tardy" shipper, I took pride in shipping things almost immediately but I wont sell anything on ebay again, this new system is several steps back in terms of speed and convenience. 0/10

This is partly inaccurate.  It comes from not knowing or misunderstanding the options available to you.  If you ship via Ebay shipping labels, you can opt to having the funds taken from your MP account or your PP account, seller choice.  The option is at the bottom of every label form when you are creating a label.  Once you make a selection, it will default to that option on future labels until such time as you change it.

As to shipping tardy, that is a seller choice to ship late.  It is not necessary at all.  First not for any self imposed reason should a seller ship late.  If the seller chooses to wait until the money is in their bank before shipping, that is their right to make that choice, but if you do, you need to change you handling time BEFORE someone purchases off of the listing.  It has ALWAYS been the seller's responsibility to ship within the stated handling time on their listings.

You don't have the right to keep a short handling time on your listing, knowing that you aren't going to do it and wait until the money is in your bank.  That of course will cause you late shipment defects and before long you will be a sanctioned seller by Ebay paying a 5% FVF penalty fee for not abiding by the rules.

So ship quick or ship in a few days, each seller has the right to make this decision for themselves, but in line with that each seller needs to accurately state their handling time on each listing.  That is YOUR responsibility.
