I am trying to make payment on a winning bid item partially with ebay gift cards. Twice payment failed, twice I was deducted the funds and on my Paypal for the remaining funds, and twice the gift cards were not refunded the correct amount.
First time it failed, I contacted eBay CS team and they blamed the error on the Seller not having the correct set up (who is reputable and have been on eBay for a long time). The Seller obliged and checked and confirmed all are in place and asked me to contact eBay.
I called eBay CS team and they said that it is fine now to try again, problem resolved but delay on refund. It failed again. Contacted eBay CS team and they assured me the refund will come through no, 2 to 7 days instead. They said it was a system glitch.
It's been 7 days. I have been contacting eBay CS team for over a week and I keep getting the same excuse. But this time up to 21 days. I need to pay the Seller, who has been patient but won't be patient for another 21 days. eBay CS team won't even contact the Seller to explain why this is an issue on their end.
They now are saying the Gift Card Team have contacted me via email, no such email. I also see on threads here that this is an issue since 2018.
Has anyone had this issue and it actually been resolved? Or do I need to take it to external parties for fraud/scam? There is money in the gift card, I check the balance (although not the correct balance as eBay did not refund the correct amount).
