Fraudulent claims by ebay

Ebay claimed (implied?) I would be paying via PayPal, but then charged my credit card directly.
Anyone else noticed this happening?

You can pay via PayPal using a Credit card.  Buyers have always been able to do that when paying with PP.

I know.  That's what should have happened.

When it does, you see this on a CC statement:

Merchant name is

PAYPAL *EBAY ...
and one can see the transaction in activity history on PayPal.
Not what happened.

CC statement showed
*EBAY ...
and no transaction in activity history on PayPal.

Go away, you're not helping.

Whenever I pay for something with PayPal I'm offered a choice of paying with PP balance, PP credit, or a credit card.

List more, sell more. Goodwill that other, uh, stuff.

Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

You can check to see what your default payment funding method is in your Paypal account settings to avoid any confusion next time.

directly.

I wasn't confused.
There's a difference between a credit card being charged directly and being charged via PayPal.

Sorry but clearly that was what your OP was about.  We all get confused from time to time.  I just wish so many people wouldn't jump to the conclusion that Ebay must be doing something wrong.  Most times it is actually the person that is confused just doesn't understand the process.

eBay does not have the ability to process credit card payments. You have missed or misinterpreted something.

Don’t waste your time leaving a snarky reply. I’m snark-proof.

From: https://pages.ebay.com/payment/2.0/index.html:

"How can I pay?
You can pay with credit, debit and gift cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and PayPal Credit."

Also, here's a screenshot (which shows that eBay has two of my credit card #s it's willing to charge my purchase to.  And all those other ways shown.     :

Don't see that as stating that the payment was coming from the PP balance. Just that it is being processed by PP

Different forms of payments are processed through PP.

Wife had a conniption a while back when  charges were coming from her "debit card".  A look at her account on the next purchase was showing the card as the source even though it was processed through PP.

When you select PayPal at eBay Checkout to pay a Managed Payments seller --

eBay gets in between and takes your PayPal payment into the eBay account at PayPal, then sends the seller a payout. The activity appears on your PayPal account as well, because your PayPal account was involved in the payment.

When a seller cannot yet be switched over to Managed Payments --

eBay takes your card directly instead, processed through PayPal, then sends the proceeds into the seller's account. The activity only appears on your card statement, because your PayPal account was not involved in the payment.

Third, when you select to pay a Managed Payments seller with a card or Google/Apple Pay --

Adyen instead processes your payment at eBay Checkout.

I wonder if you meant to write processed through PayPal (but provide no supporting evidence) or

if instead,  you meant to write NOT processed through PayPal.

There are multiple options within the last 4 of these 6 options.
