FEES

How many sellers have tried to contact EBAY over including the Shipping fees in your total "profit" on an item For example I sold a Book for 1.99 and customer requested Priority Shipping which was $8.35 in turn they include the 8.35 in the final value fee and charge ME on that amount calculating a total fee to me of$2.03 which is more than my item sold for so when i go pay the $8.35 for the shipping label ebay is the ONLY one to make money because i owe them

FEES

eBay's Final Value Fee has been based on the total amount paid by the buyer, item price, and shipping price for maybe 10 years.

Not sure why it would be a surprise, given the length of time that you've been here.

The FVF is also charged on the state sales tax if applicable.

If you sold a book for $1.99 plus $8.35, your buyer should have paid YOU $10.34 plus state sales tax if applicable.

Many sellers on eBay have discovered that it doesn't pay to list items for less than $20.

FEES

As noted in the other post, eBay has been charging the final value fee based on the buyer's total payment since 2011.

You need to factor this expense into your item pricing or into the shipping cost that you charge the buyer. Many sellers choose to leave the shipping calculator set up to charge retail pricing rather than the discounted online rates; the price difference generally covers the fee expense.
