Email Address Change

Ebay is extremely frustrating.  I need to edit my Payments >  cards and accounts > email address.  I now use a gmail account, that is my email and is listed in my PayPal account notification email.   when I try to update the Ebay email it comes back with, "account is already taken".  I somehow got thru to an actual person who told me to wait at least 30 days and try again.  It has been 64 days later and still Ebay won't let me fix the problem.  This is so asinine, and each call Ebay tells me they are here to help.  No they aren't.  They are liars and don't want to pay an actual human that could solve the problem in minutes.

just make a new email and try again, you may already have that email associated with ebay already, somehow just my guess anyway, but if making a completely new email results in the same then you know it's not because of anything on your end.

Where are you trying to change your email? Did you go in through account information in the drop down menu next to your name in the header and then click personal information?

If going through the page posted above, are you clicking save, then receiving a notification to enter a code that is sent your email?

If your email address is already associated with another eBay account, you will not be able to use the same email address for this account.

However, there are possible workarounds. You may be able to generate a unique email address that points to the same gmail email inbox that you can use with this eBay account. See here:

I don't know how soon you can reuse a gmail ID, but maybe it was already used on Ebay and that account is still active.

Just checked and once a gmail account is closed, that Id is never used again.
