Do we only get refunded final value fees on returns?

I have this buyer who is returning over $400 worth of items.  I can't remember the last time I refunded for a return.  Does anyone know if only the final values fees will be refunded for these?

Yes when you refund you will be refunding less any fees you paid.

It depends on the reason for the refund.

Yes, the final value fees will be credited back to you, as long as make a full refund, and you refund the buyer yourself, before the buyer can ask eBay to "step in and help".

If eBay gets involved, then you don't get the credit for the final value fees.

They keep 30 cents of every purchase.   Paypal would do the same thing too when paypal was the way to pay here.

Let me ask this another, simpler way.

The buyer paid 400 dollars.  eBay paid me 340 dollars.  When the returned item arrives in my mailbox do I pay the buyer 400 or 340 dollars?

Refund the buyer in full because the buyer gets all their money back and eBay credits your fees, all but $0.30.

In this example your fees were $60 .... the end result is you fork over $340.30, EBay forks over $59.70, buyer receives the full $400.

EBay keeps the original $0.30 transaction fee you paid.

I recently sold a watch for $300 (plus $15 postage) that a buyer accused of being fake, which it was not.  We bickered back and forth and I ultimately decided to accept the return and refund the money. Not only did Ebay make me pay return shipping, but they kept the $50 final value fee.  I would NEVER sell again on Ebay because of this. Btw, the buyer only had 1 feedback while I have 215.  I can't believe a class action attorney hasn't taken up the seller's cause on this issue.
