Constructive criticism for managed payments

So I, like some other sellers, am frustrated with managed payments mandate.  Basically I'm not willing to set up a separate bank account for Ebay when I already have my Paypal account.  I had a couple Ebay accounts but there's other good venues for the things I sell and buy so I've been migrating away from Ebay since the managed payments news broke and I'm not really even upset about leaving Ebay at this point.

Obviously there's some business benefit (profit) for Ebay in managed accounts and that's their choice.  And there's some benefit to us (audience size) to continue to list on Ebay.

But if a subset of Ebay users are willing to continue to pay more to use Paypal, why wouldn't they continue to offer it as an option?  Forcing us all to a single payment system seems like bad business to me.

Just my thoughts, YMMV.  I enjoyed using Ebay, thanks for the memories.

Because Pay Pal isn't going to process payments for Ebay anymore, that's the reason for MP.

Have a great day.

They are just making easier for people to scam sellers. With their new policies they are even less seller friendly than ever before. They will continue to gouge the sellers with fees and losses. That seems to be their current business model.

Ebay is the parent company of Paypal, they used to wholly own them and still share board members.  Paypal is stopping processing credit card payments because of MP, not the other way around.

You're wrong on both statements. Do a little research.

Paypal still processes credit cards, just not for Ebay.

I so agree.  I am not going to sell on ebay any longer.  There are so many other venues to use; i.e. Facebook's Marketplace for instance.  It's not like ebay and items sell locally from what I can determine just scanning through.   Sad really, since I began selling and buying on ebay in 2001.

I'm not going to get a separate bank account for ebay. Mine is over 10 years old and I pay no money fees. Besides I'm on limit funds so don't have extra to start a new one. Also I'll still use paypal for sending items out. Even if ebay gives me a discount for shipping I've eaten the fees before when I had to handwrite out labels to send items out. Plus if payment from MP is hung up I have my Affirm account to handle paying shipping.

Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

Hello - I feel the same way. I’m more than willing to pay the few extra bucks for PayPal to manage my money transactions, but I don’t foresee  ebay allowing a choice in the matter. Their MP system was designed with their best interests in mind and not as a money saving convenience for us, the buyers/sellers that make ebay work, as we were sold on it!

In any event, this is the “final straw” in eBay’s gradual deterioration over the past few years and I’m out too. You mentioned other venues for selling. Would you be able to share some of the more reputable formats for selling? Thank you in advance for your reply. ✌🏼
