My checking account I was required to associate with my ebay managed payments account was hacked and several thousand $$ was stolen.
I am not saying the breach was from eBay, I can’t prove that, but with the requirement to give eBay (and Paypal) direct access to our checking accounts has become a HUGE security risk. And I can only expect this will get Much Worse. I am not sure how to get around this since we are forced to give eBay our checking account access.
So Beware ! The Cyber criminals have become very sophisticated.

All my checking accounts notify me of any purchase of $100 or more.
My eBay / selling checking account has less than $200 at all times and no debit card attached.
It isnt a huge risk if you set it up to where the criminals cant get anything.. good luck!

The only thing eBay has is your bank account number and your routing number, both of which are on every single check you have ever written. It is impossible to "hack" someone's bank account with only that information.

Still doesn't give them any sort of access to your bank account. It's most likely OP's debit card was compromised somehow, OR their online login credentials for their bank (the only other way someone would be able to directly access their bank account) were phished.

Have you secured your eBay account since the breach. If you haven't at least changed your password, they still have access to do this again.
If needed, here is the link to the Security Center.

Thanks. Good point.
But, not sure if my eBay access gives any ability to see my banking info as that goes directly to the Managed Payments bank. I dont think even I can see my banking info in my eBay account. i.e. bank accout user ID , password, we are required to give to Managed Payments.
BUt, I will change my password more regulary nonetheless.

WRONG! GO back and check what you had to give eBay Managed Paymants . YOU gave then MUCH MORE then routing and acct #.

Wrong! YOU absolutely gave eBay (Managed Payments) access to your checking account. DIRECT ACCESS. AND NOT just acct #s, but FULL Access to your bank account

Nope, I did not.

So to whom, exactly, did these thousands of dollars go? eBay?

Anyway, what you need to do is run FULL virus and malware scans (preferably with different programs, such as MalwareBytes and Windows Defender or another antivirus program) on your computer and NOT change any of your passwords until that is done in case you have a keylogger installed. You also need to make sure that you are never accessing any of your bank info from unsecured wifi.

I've noticed that something is different about my account also, my postage amounts for shipping is now coming from my PayPal acct. Which I don't have money going into that account so the funds comes from a linked bank acct. Instead of from my managed account that I set up for ebay transactions (that account is linked to PayPal). So now I have to check to make sure I'm not paying double postage

That may be happening from your Shipping Label page....there are 2 option to fund your postage (which you select) at the bottom of every label you generate
Paypal or MP Funds (Processing)
Somehow, it must have been switched to Paypal
Question for the OP....was this bank account "dedicated" to only MP, or did it exist prior to MP and used as a regular account?
(if that is asking too much info I understand...just curious)

What has your bank said? Who do they say took the money? Certainly they have records.
