I have a situation that's really bothersome. So basically i haven't sold any items since 2019 because i cannot stand PayPal and them asking for stuff they don't need all the time so i stopped selling here all together until the managed payments would be rolled out. That was in June 2019 and at that time i signed up to "express interest" in the MP system and continued to wait. Opened several chats back then and was told to keep waiting and eventually ill get the invitation.
Fast forward 2 years and 2 months and i still have yet to be invited to managed payments. I've been active buying this whole time but have not sold any items. I noticed i had a $36 fee left on my selling balance since 2 years ago so i paid that yesterday. I wanted to start listing items again and when i did i see that PayPal is no longer an option to be paid with, which is fine by me because i hate them anyway. However, i do not have managed payments yet so i effectively cannot sell??? I use the new listing tool and under preferences and payment header its just completely blank
So i go to classic view and i see that there is an option there says payments managed by eBay but the check mark is grayed out as if im already a part of that though i obviously am not.
That said i have no way to sell items now as i cannot be paid. So i do a bunch of research to see what i can do, i follow a link to "startpayments" and get this screen telling me that i have not yet been invited.
ok, great how can i get this invite then if i already expressed interest and tried to sign up over 2 years ago? So i filled out another interest form a couple days ago. I haven't heard anything on it. I contacted customer service today just a moment ago and long story short im told that i did not get an invite because i was inactive and they only invite active seller accounts. I say ok so how can i be active if i cant even sell due to not being able to accept payments?? They say i must re-register to sell on ebay. After trying to clarify for 10 minutes they literally wanted me to create a whole new ebay account **bleep**??? So i say i dont get it ive sold on ebay for years i have nothing bad going on with my account and everything is solid HOW CAN I GET INVITED TO MANAGED PAYMENTS so i can sell again?! Simply told to keep waiting. I say ive waited over 2 years you just told me i cant get invited unless im an active seller which i cannot be due to not being able to get payments. Tells me create a new ebay account again and ends communications.
This said i ask, what can i even do at this point? Im not at all confident that i will get the invitation after all this. I cannot actively sell due to the issues. I maybe cant even be invited also due to it?? I do not want to make a completely new eBay account that seems ridiculous! I feel like there is no options left here and after swapping over to selling on other platforms for the past couple years this really is just extremely annoying.
Should i call in or live chat with another rep or what can really be done to help me here?

So something very strange has happened after i posted this. After spending hours looking through my account on PC and trying to post items for sale and not being allowed due to the error i finally figured it out and triggered being able to enter my info to start managed payments randomly without the invitation email......
I logged into the mobile app on my iphone.. Started off trying to list from the draft i had made on my pc earlier. Thats when it got interesting because in the listing info under payment on the app unlike where it was blank on pc it showed me this:
So at that point im thinking okay maybe the app has a backdoor into this mess or can jumpstart my ability to use it and sell again. i press list item and i end up getting this:
ok. Same problem right? Yes but more interestingly i scroll down and see this change to paypal and the error message in red here:
This is new and the old way it used to look when you had it wrong. So at this point i click the little pencil to edit my payment methods to see whats happening. I get another grayed out "payments managed by ebay looks like this:
right under this is a toggle to add a new paypal id randomly. I toggled this on, added my old paypal id and then toggled it off and my screen went white at random. At this point i got brought into the managed payment screens to sign up!
At this point im still skeptical but went through the whole sign up process and sure enough it worked. I went back to my account on my PC and checked all the screens previously messed up and all was there and correct with full options. I checked the "startpayments" link i used to get that message on to wait for the message from ebay and it has converted to seeing this instead.
Regardless i have no idea if this was just coincidence or if it was actually what i did in the ios app but i feel like since i did not actually get the invite message or email at all it must have been the app and i feel like that past due balance was preventing the prior invite from happening that i should have gotten in 2019 lol. Happy either way and hopefully this helps anyone else that winds up in the same position if they do s google search.

To me this is a unique problem. I don't think I've ever seen this type of position out of all the posts regarding MP. That unpaid balance is highly likely what is keeping you from being able to get everything fixed and start selling again. Now that you have paid the seriously overdue balance, you should contact Ebay again and see if you can now get the registration into MP moving along.
I would suggest going to Ebay for Business on Facebook for advice and possible help fixing this issue.
https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness/
In the past year, at some point you should have received an email from Ebay inviting you to join MP. It may have got stuck in your spam folder. But unless this seriously overdue balance was preventing that email from getting sent out, which it may have, the email should be somewhere.
Well I think you figured out the problem and fixed that by getting the amount paid. Now you just need Ebay to get that recorded and the flag on your account because of the late payment removed.
If you do decide to go to Facebook, I hope you will come back and let us know what you found out and if you got your issue resolved.
Good Luck.

It is likely the timing of them taking the lock off you account that was way past due because you recently paid the old fees you owed. But either way, congrats. I'm glad it is working for you.
Since you selected the option that you are a business you will need to make sure your registered name on your Ebay account is your Business name. Your checking account will also need to be a Business account in the name of your business. If they currently aren't, you still have some issues yet to come when they take your information through the verification process.

All about control and monitoring you you must remember this with everything you do with on the internet now so every single company wants you using the app rather than the browser website because the app infiltrates your phone like 10 times fold and they can check you out who you are and what you're doing under the guise of looking for criminal fraud which they also do look at me wrong but in the end just to control and watch every little thing you do that's what that was all about as soon as you got under the app they opened up their graceful doors to you because you open up yours to them. 😉

Then there are few high traffic places that you can sell on the internet as all the larger sites have had money processing systems in place for years. Ebay is the last of the bigger sites to do this.
When you OWN a website, you too can set the payment terms. It isn't illegal or unconstitutional it is your RIGHT as the owner of the site. Like Target, Walmart, Sears, Macy and any number of retail sites have done for years. They determine how payments can happen on their site.
I personally have no fear of being discovered for "criminal fraud" as it is something I simply don't do. I also never use my mobile app for ANYTHING that is financially related. Never have and never will. I will use my landline or my desktop computer for that. Far more secure.
These are just decisions we each need to make for ourselves. If you are fine with the risks of using a mobile device for financial stuff, that is your decision and you have every right to it. If you don't like the risks, don't do it. You have choices.

Or can be destructive and cause some to make very bad decisions.
