Hi, all, a few days ago, a buyer made a purchase for 2 items, and soon cancelled, requesting a refund, but only 1 cancellation came through which I authorised, but had to manually cancel the 2nd order, a few hrs later the 2nd payment came through and refund is pending and will apparently take a long time because it was a eCheck.
Then Yesterday eBay withdrew money from by linked debit card. Now my PayPal account was empty before as I only mainly use it for eBay, but I didn't touch the sum deposited for payment.
So why is eBay withdrawing money from my debit card, while the PayPal sum still reads as refund pending? Is it because I cancelled so owe fees? Even though the customer requested a cancellation?
Sorry if this is very basic, but I have only been able to find parts of my question answered. Abby help would be appreciated.

Hi, buyer can make a cancellation request within an hour from the purchase. After that, customer has to ask the seller to cancel the order. Either way, seller has to accept the cancellation. Apparently you faced both of those situations.
When we don't have PayPal balance in the linked PayPal account, PayPal automatically get the payment from the Debit card and give it to eBay. You should have waited until you see the customer's payment in PayPal. You were too quick to cancel the order. Now, contact the buyer and tell him what happened then contact eBay and explain what happened before it is too late. Sellers are also protected by eBay and PayPal policies, use them before it is too late.
The only way to avoid echecks is to list in fixed price format with "Immediate payment required" since it requires immediate payment, doesn't work with eChecks. There's an option in PayPal to disable eChecks as well, but blocking on eBay is enough. Please contact eBay for more information.
Now, don't argue with the customer, he might give you a negative feedback. That's the last thing you need. Try to contact the buyer and try your best to resolve the issue peacefully. If it is a cheap product, just let it go. It doesn't worth your time. At the early stages, it seems like a huge lost, but with time you will simply let it go for good. There are options to Black List and report buyers on eBay if you are interested. Hope this helps.
