Can't sign up for Managed Payments. Error message always.

Has anybody else received this message "Something went wrong. Please try again later." when trying to confirm their personal info for managed payments? I have to sign up for managed payments in two of my account and that's the message I get every single time. I've tried more times than I can count on multiple days.

I've tried different browsers, my phone, my desktop computer, turning off my ad blockers, changing the info slightly but nothing works. I guess I'll have to contact ebay directly, but wondered if maybe there was something else to try that I'm not thinking about.

I'm in the exact same boat.  Get the exact same error message.  In my case, I think it's because they can't verify my street address with the USPS.   They want to use an incorrect address, a town and zip code 15 miles away.  If I let them use the wrong address it will let me go to the next page.  But if I let them use the wrong address, it will never match up with my banking information, so I am afraid to go forward with the wrong address.

I called on Monday and nice lady tried to help me but couldn't.  Said someone in the payments team would call me back.  Hasn't happened yet (4 days now) and now even the call-back option won't work.

I'm afraid to do listings I might not get paid for!

@victoryranchtrailsIt sounds like your problem is slightly different but I wanted to tag you too just in case this helps.

Hi everyone,

I’ll be posting this in all the threads I’ve posted in thus far and try to tag others who have experienced this problem because I was able to resolve this problem late last night on my account. I don’t know if this will work for everyone, but I hope it works for at least some others. This probably won’t help those who have issues with using a PO Box or linking a checking account, unfortunately.

Recap of the problem:

In addition to not being able to sign up for managed payments (i.e. I would try verifying my address, date of birth, etc. only to get “Sorry, something went wrong. Please try again later.”), I was not able to edit my Personal Info. I could not edit my registration address. Likewise, my e-mail was not verified and I couldn’t verify it. eBay would send me a verification code, but it would give me the “Sorry, something went wrong” message again when I entered it. I thought this was odd because I was sure I would have verified my e-mail when I signed up. I’ve also never noticed any issues with using my e-mail with my eBay account until this bug arose.

Solution:

I realized that about a year after making my account, I made a second account using the same email because I forgot my log-in information at the time. On that second account, my e-mail was verified and I was able to edit all of my information without issue.

I’m not sure if this has always been the case, but it appears eBay only allows one account per verified e-mail address. I went back into my main account I’ve been having issues with (pokemonapprentice), I changed my email address, and verified that new email address. After verifying my new e-mail, I was able to finally update my registration address. Once I did that, I was able to sign up for Managed Payments.

My recommendation is to (1) Think about whether or not you’ve ever used the same e-mail to sign up for a second account that might cause a conflict with your current one, and (2) Try changing your e-mail and verifying that new e-mail under “Account Setting” --> “Personal Info”. If necessary, then proceed to try updating your registration address under “Personal Info”. Then try signing up again for Managed Payments.

If this doesn’t help you, I’m sorry but maybe a similar issue (e.g. a conflict between multiple eBay accounts or some unverified information) is causing the bug for you. I would imagine your phone number also needs to be verified, but it seems okay to use the same verified phone number on multiple accounts.

Oh my gosh thank you so much!!!! I've been on the phone 5 times with the customer service and no one suggested that I change my email address. I even told them that I thought I had an old account and was that the problem, to which they said "that should not be an issue".

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

That worked. I had no idea I had an account sitting out there that you could sign in with the email address vs. my username. Strange thing is that it took my most recent password, but did not show any of my history or ratings!
