Buyer sent me an offer that was the same as the Buy it Now price. Why?

New seller here. I just had a buyer send me an offer that was the same as the Buy it Now price on my listing. I accepted it, of course. But it seems odd. Did they just hit the wrong button, or is there some reason unbeknownst to me for them to do that?

Most likely because you are "new"

If you accept they will try to get you to send your Paypal info or email.

Then you will get a fake email saying it is sold and to ship.

Then the "buyer" will request a gift card be included with this gift for ....

Best bet is to decline the offer. As you know the buyer could have just bought it for that and paid.

You could be being set for a scam or maybe they do not have much experience.  Send an invoice.  If they ask for your paypal address or a phone # , it's a definite scam.  If they ask you to ship to another address, it's a possible scam.  You will LOSE your seller protection if you ship to an address that is NOT on the payment.  Make sure that you see the payment in MY EBAY.  If it is not there, you were not paid.    If buyer asks for something extra like a gift card and they promise to send you the money, it's a scam.   Come back here if there is something funny about this buyer.

You are a new seller. Most likely ebay will hold your payment for up to 30 days.  If you print through Ebay shipping, ebay releases the exact amount of the shipping label.  When you print, make sure that it says PRINT on ebay Shipping.  If you don't see print, you were NOT paid.

Thanks again to all for the heads-up. The buyer did, indeed, send me a message asking for my email, which I declined to give. I waited out the four days and cancelled the sale.
