Buyer received wrong boots in JANUARY

I sold a pair of boots in January and the buyer contected me in May that they received the wrong pair of boots.  I checked my inventory and yes indeed they did.  I still had the pair they ordered.  I had a pair of Soludos Ankle boots and Country Road Ankle boots in black.  They almost looked identical.

They want a refund for the boots even though they wore them this whole time.

I told them I would, but I would like the boots back before I refund.

My question or issue is, since this was so far back and it's a completed transaction, how to initiate a refund??

I can't see anywhere in the details of the order to begin the refund process and of course I can't get through to EBAY CS.

Does anyone have any how idea how I do this or is the buyer just SOL?

They wore them?  Too late.  Give them a partial refund. Tell them your mistake but they had 180 days to contact you.  Do you have their name and address.  If yes, send them a money order. You decide the amount but I would not give them a full refund.  Not now.   You can also see if they can send you the paypal email address and you can send money to them.

Sold in January and contacted you in May saying they were wrong.

I say you're  under no obligation to refund because they waited too long to tell you and they wore them.  If they showed up on my doorstep unworn I  would refund. Otherwise I would not refund.

To the poster, if they send them back, inspect them carefully.  IF they wore them alot , I would give a refund of about 20% since you probably can't sell them at all except in a yard sale. If they are almost perfect and you can resell them, then maybe 50%.   Make sure that you block this buyer immediately.

In the future, always check the item to the photo very carefully especially if you have several similar items.   I have accidently mailed out very similar items, but they were always cheap items. I sell mainly diecast and once I shipped out a Matchbox 1957 red T-Bird, but the buyer bought a Hot wheels 1957 red T-Bird.    I ended up shipping out the correct one for free. I was so embarrassed by that error.

All their options are gone so you cannot just issue a refund and of course you will not get your fees back.

. Buyer has waited WAY too long can't file any claims or do a chargeback if they paid by credit card
