Buyer Chargeback ( by mistake ) on item delivered w/ tracking EBAY MG PAYMENTS holding funds ???

Sold a $399 item.  mailed USPS Priority with tracking.  Item was delivered.  Buyer left positive feedback.......Received notice from Ebay Managed payments of chargeback.  Funds on HOLD.....Asked buyer why he did that.  He said it was a mistake and meant for another seller/another item ( in ebay messages) ...I told him to contact his credit card and cancel the chargeback ( He said he did ).......Called ebay , they said they can see the messages, positive feedback and the tracking but will not release the funds until the credit card company decides on the chargeback ( this could take 90 days ).........Paypal would have immediately released the funds.....Ebay managed payments is not releasing the funds...WHAT KIND OF SELLER PROTECTION IS THIS?...I have called Ebay managed payments several times and spoken to several representative but they wont release until they receive an outcome from the credit card company......Any thoughts?

Do you know the reason for the chargeback, i.e. item not received versus unauthorized use?  This might make a difference, but I doubt it.  Just spitballin’.

My impression of Adyen is that so far, they’re unwilling to advance payments or refunds when eBay doesn’t actually have the money for a sale itself.  eBay is the merchant of record in this sale and it doesn’t have access to the funds for the sale at the moment.  If it were PayPal getting hit with the chargeback, they’d be dipping into a contingency fund of sorts for you, I guess.

Just because the buyer said some thing: do not mean it is true:

Some will say anything to get you not to respond to the case...

Enter all information in the case you are asked for. Do not assume this case will be dropped.

Yes the chargeback was done as "item not received" by mistake ( buyer said he contacted the CC to remove the chargeback ) ....tracking provided as delivered, ebay messages show buyer said he made mistake, positive feedback from the buyer...all boxes checked.....but ebay managed payments says the money will remain on hold until chargeback outcome from credit card company .  Who know how long this could take????......So my $399 will be on hold until then...what if for some reason the credit card company still rules in buyers favor??  At that point is ebay managed payments going to release the money to me based on the terms of the "Seller protection"  ???  Why dont they just release the money now as I met the seller protection guidelines?

Under the new "ebay managed payments" cases there is not place to leave additional information...it only asked one question:  to provide tracking information ( I DID )

One side note, supposedly on the new system on " items not described" cases...seller or buyer can only leave (1) picture in the case information..have not experienced this but heard from another seller

It would be interesting to know what lead to the mistake: cryptic CC transaction reporting, no Item Title anymore on PP transaction, etc.

Rather than these just piling up I would think.

Probably because eBay doesn't have the money, either.  They probably have a hold on the funds due to the chargeback.

PayPal wouldn't have had the money in these sorts of circumstances, either.  They have a nice virtual pot of money from which they can use to pay advances to sellers, though.
